my situation. a guy claiming to be a cop told me i had no right to state certain things in a blog on myspace. he then told me if i didnt delete these things immediatly i could be arrested. me, being as stubburn as i am, posted all of his comment in another blog on myspace. he then told me that he was forwarding everything to his supervisor, and that a warrent should be issued for my arrest later this week. it is my understanding that when someone presents themself as a police officer, they are required to properly identify themself with their id (iether showing a card, or telling you their serial number). as far as this situation is concerned, is there any reason for the 'officer' to deny me their id? is there anyone i can report this to who might investige them for impersonating an officer?

don't sweat that clown, good for you for posting his lame comments. There is nothing he can do, freedom of speech. Tell him to stuff it, even if he is a cop.

offer him a donut to leave you alone.

First of all, the police don't have any right to tell you what you can and can't post in myspace.
Then, it sounds like this person is just a egomaniac who doens't like myspace blogs. I would like to say just shine the guy on and continue doing whatever you were doing.
That way you kind of call his bluff. Alos post a note on the blog that this person has impersonated the policeofficer and ask if anyone else has had this same person tell them anything.
My bet is that's the last you'll see of this so-called 'cop'.
Have nice bloggy day!

As far as I know, the police have no right to order you to remove things from your blog. Your blog is protected by the 1st amendment, freedom of speach. The 'cop' is obviously some kid trying to fool you. You can report it to myspace that someone is impersonating a police officer, and they will check into it.

If he was really a cop he would show you his id. Do you know what county he supposedly works in? If you know this call the local police station give them his name. They would know even if he were from another station. There is no reason for a cop to deny you his id. And your local police would be very interested in knowing that this guy is a impersonating as a cop.

If anything, it would be myspace's problem. So don't worry about anything, and if it was a cop, then they wouldn't reply, they would just get a warrant, but that's usually for actual crimes (i.e. illegal downloads, illegal photos, etc.). Always remember your first amendment right.

Also, if you were in person and someone says they're a cop, even if they're off-duty, police officers carry their badges, and it must be shown if they are identifying themselves as a police officer. As for reporting it, I would say maybe myspace could take care of it.

I am laughing because the clown that said he was a cop was obviously a 12 yr old kid attempting to bluff you into deleting the things he didnt like.

Cops cant tell you what to write, cops cant tell you to delete it and cops cant arrest you for writing. Those are civil cases and not punishable by Law Enforcement.

This reminds me of the woman that was a McDonald's manager who strip searched a teenage worker and had her doing all sorts of weird stuff because some guy on the telephone told her that he was a cop and ordered her to do it.

I'm pretty sure that manager wound up in big legal trouble for being such an idiot, not to mention losing her job.
