Really, you have to weigh the different risks. There are some pretty serious diseases that your puppy can pick up from walking in public places (parvo is just one of them and is almost always fatal in puppies). However, if you keep them from meeting other people and dogs and seeing things, you lose a lot of really beneficial socialization.

Personally, I'd probably avoid public places like dog parks, people parks, and pet stores until 14-16 weeks unless you can carry your dog. But if you want to take your pup on a walk around the neighborhood or let her meet some of the healthy, vaccinated adult dogs that belong to friends or neighbors, go ahead. The danger you run into is when you take your puppy places where unvaccinated and/or sick dogs have been.

Of course you can walk your dog in the park, but you can't bring your dog to the dog park without it's rabbies shot. Maybe that's what your vet ment. Alot of dog parks will have signs posted, saying that dogs without their shots are not permitted. It's just in case. Would you want your dog playing with other dogs, possibly getting but, it happens, and then finding out that dog has rabies, and your dog doesn't have it's shots. I know it sounds rediculous, but it could happen ,and people need to cover their *** just in case. Bring yours dog for walks, but not to enclosed dog parks. It's only for a few weeks anyways. Why chance it.

The safest thing to do is to keep your dog as sheltered as possible until it has received all his shots. If rabies are all that is left then its really not a big deal but a risk of your dog being bitten and getting rabies is a possibility.

Unless your puppy is younger then 14 weeks of age, then it is safe. I asked that same question to the vet when my puppies where 9 weeks old, and he said that it wasn't safe until they had received their 3rd set of shots. To be honest, just wait until your puppy reaches atleast 3 months of age because even though it has received the shots, the immune system is not fully developed, and there's too many viruses as well as parasites out there that could try to infect your puppy. Don't risk it.

As far as I know, the only way you are not allowed to walk your dog ANYWHERE is if there is a sign posted, or if you don't pick up after them. I have NEVER heard of that.

wait till it gets all its shots and of course you can walk your dog anywhere unless there is a special sign that tells you not to.

I am pretty sure that it is okay but walk it on a leash just to make sure she doesn't bite anyone because that could lead to a lawsuit.

well... It's not against the law... but it would be safer.... if he got bitten and he has the rabbies shot... he won't get rabbies.
