Maybe you can help...Vaccinations?

Question

I'm an RVT (registerd vet tech.) I was wondering if i wanted to open up my own animal rescue shelter on my property could i legally purchess and disp shots such as RV,DHLPP,FVRP ect. Could i also purchess and disp antibiotics such as Amoxi tabs,penicillin ect.Not to the public but just for my rescued dogs and cats.Could i do Mirochiping as well? Please help me.

You would be able to microchip and likely do DHLPP, vacciantions but by law you would not be able to give rabies vacciantions..some meds you would be able to dispense but many you wouldn't.

Vaccines, with the exception of rabies can be purchased by a layperson. Some of the others, like antibiotics require a license. You should think of working with a Veterinarian in you area. Some may offer their time and get you the needed medications for cost.

I suppose it depends on state law. You can buy vax via Drs foster and smith online. RVT's are allowed to microchip and vaccinate-but don't know if they can by the microchips. (I think rabies has to be purchased and administered by a vet). As far as any sort of medication I believe those can only be purchased and dispensed by a veterinarian. One must be a veterinarian to diagnose and one must be a veterinarian to prescribe medication.

You can buy these things from Revival. Revival sells the fish antibiotics and the bird antibiotics. They give breeders a list of how to use them as well. You can also buy Avid microchips from them. you can get almost anything online...I've seen the microchipping supplies online..just cant remember the site
