Inform the dentist that you're concerned about it. Infections under your teeth can cause damage to your sense of smell and even travel up into the brain.

Are you saying you're afraid of the dentist? Well, believe me, you're not the only one, and they see you coming miles before you get there, and they're ready to handle your anxiety easily. Just tell them your nervous about being there (as if they hadn't seen you coming a mile away!), and they'll go out of their way to make you comfortable and relaxed. How do I know? You oughta see my wife and how nervous she gets when you even say the word "dentist"! Her state of anxiety and her pulse rate and blood pressure go so far up, so fast, that she worries me, in trying to decide whether I need to take her to the emergency room or go on to the dentist. But, she goes to the same dentist she's been going to for decades, and they know all about her, and when she makes an appointment, she no longer has to tell them she's nervous. They're kinda like "old friends" now, or they play on their long history together as dentist, staff, and patient, and they treat her so well, and tilt her way back in the chair so her head is actually lower than her feet so she won't pass out, and they do WHATEVER they need to to calm her down. They definitely don't want a patient to die in their chair out of anxiety, so, she gets "supreme" care. And she knows how worried she gets at having to go to the dentist, so, as regular as the worrying is, she gets used to it and, in some small way, gets a handle on it. And every time, she comes out feeling fine, so one more episode of excessive worrying came and went, and her tooth / teeth are fine again. Just "be brave" and go to the dentist. If you feel the need, tell them your very nervous, as if they hadn't already noticed, and the rest is a "piece of cake". Enjoy. They're really good people, so, enjoy. God Bless you.

Any time I have to go to the dentist, I am given Valium in the office about 20 minutes before I go to "THE CHAIR". Just something to help take the edge off of the anxiety factor. Why don't you go in early for your appointment and tell them you are very nervous. The should be able to give you something.

What you have is a kind of phobia that many people have when going to the dentist. You should try to overcome the fear by rationalizing the elements of your fear. I go to the dentist all the time and no problem whatsoever so good luck.

I know how you feel....I went to the dentist today.....And I still have to go back in two weeks ...the shot is not that bad....You can't really feel it if they give you abseil first...and after the shot is over the rest is a breeze...you will not be in any pain after that you will just be waiting for them to get done....
