7,000 to 8,000 is my grossed income. I had a rough start I worked for temp agencies. I since then have been working for the goverment. I had to stop going to school in march of this year lack of child care and funds.

You should get back everything that was withheld for federal income taxes, plus an earned income credit of somewhere around $2400 or $2500.

As a single mother, you will probably file as 'head of household' The standard deduction for that filling status is $7550. You would also claim a $3,300 personal exemption for yourself and possibly your child. That should result in a refund of all Federal income tax withheld. You may also be eligible for the EIC (earned income credit). The results in an additional 'refund' beyond what you paid. The EIC for a head of household with 1 child is $390 at $7000 of income and $313 at $8000. If you need to ask, I recommend getting assistance with your tax return. If you attend a church, there may be another member who can help at no charge.

As long as you worked the previous year, you should be able to claim your child.
