Does it really matter? It's your house. Are the people from queer eye for the straight guy going to visit? If it's just you, your family and friends who will see your home, use colours you like. No one will really care.

As a general rule, look at the women's fashions from the year before and you will get a good idea of what the fashionable colours and styles for this year's interiors will be. For example, the 50's and 60's retro looks have been translated into interiors, with bolder colours and more decorative features.

I moved into a new apartment and the walls were painted a dark kind of yellow that I couldn't change because the place is rented. I signed up to Better Homes and Garden's website and they have tons of handy information (to the point I got so confused I still don't really know what goes well with my walls except white doorframes and burgundy red and medium/dark blue.)
You're better off checking what colors give your house the mood you want it to have and the style of furniture that best expresses YOU, and is comfortable (why are comfort, style and moderate expense always unavailable as a single package?)
In answer to your question, I sure hope it isn't Leopardskin print!
