If you think so, how do you think it should change?

The educational system in the US is meant to turn out soldiers and employees, and generally doesn't encourage creativity.

I would like it if the school systems trained people to be entrepreneurs, instead.

Every education system is flawed. I don't think the US system is horrible, but it would be nice if we were more internationally competitive. There's a fine line to walk here between letting children be children and preparing them for the world they are going to be released into. In all honesty, I think the biggest problem of all is that it is virtually illegal to do anything that might make a child uncomfortable, from certain test scoring methods to class projects to anything else. It's getting ludicrous how little authority schools honestly have to govern the kids. Parents flip out if anything curricular changes which affects the grades of their children.
What we need to do is prepare children to compete in the world. And I mean the world. Globalization is here to stay, and we need to prepare our children for that. I would like to see a more rigorous course load with higher expectations for children. It's amazing what students can accomplish when those instructing them have genuine faith in their abilities. Parents need to learn to value education. The US is notoriously anti-education in its culture. Finally, we need to increase the availability of post-secondary options. These measures will be a good start, but many more changes must be made. Every single parent, and every single High School junior should read The World Is Flat by Thomas Friedman.
