its possible, it depends if she socializes the dog. I hope she is strong enough to walk a big staffie in a couple months!

It depends upon the dog. A friend of mine has 13 Am Staffs & 7 Staffie Bulls & they are not "protective" at all! LOL
They're sweet to everyone - even total strangers when she isn't at home!
The good thing is - both of these breeds "look" imposing enough - so that should be some protection for your mom.
Make sure he is well trained - they are very strong little dogs.

Certainly - most dogs are naturally protective anyway.. esp. a Staffy.
I would recommend she takes him to proper obedience classes from a young age:

- will socialize the dog (meet other dogs)

- will socialize your mum (make friends)

- obedinece and proper training will ensure he is a GREAT dog, capable of protecting - and more importantly NOT be a liablity to her.. an untrained dog like that could not only attack other dogs or people (vet bills) but accidently pull her over while walking (chasing a squirrell for instance) - at you mums age a fall like that can be serious (broken bones etc)

Yes it will be....it will be an excellent companion for her.....they are strong silly dogs and tend to follow you around the house and make u trip up when they stand right behind you and you move backwards lol (well mine does) maybe it will do you mum and pup good if they went training lessons as they are strong and can knock into you making you unsteady on your feet and I'm 30 wouldnt like that to happen to your mum............but yep they are great dogs they are very loyal.....best of luck

good choice .she has a very good companion .off cause he will protect her when his older and give her 100per cent and be very loyal you have no worries there .they never asked for nothing back mine like his belly rub .i wish your mum and pup all the best .and again good choice and i would say socialize with other dogs and people so your pup gets on

He might be a little bit but not too much as long as the dog gets to see other people too.

sorry but in my oppin i think u made a bad choice :( how is ur mom who's in her 70s going to give a staffy pup all the time n effort it takes to exercises him and play with him indoors/garden not to mention "showing him who's top dog"???
i feel sorry for ur mom cos she will have become attached to this dog,and i feel even more sorry for the poor dog who will probably develop behavior probs and have trouble being re-homed in long run,"after hes chewed ur moms house up"!
maybe u should have bought her a cat? who "if needs must" can take care ov its self?

That's such a good gift. Mine is protective towards us around strangers but friends and family, people she knows, she is fine with. Protective but not unnecessarily aggressive.
