This is because the radio is not hooked up right. There are two power cables that go to a car radio. One goes directly to the battery and is always on. This is what keeps your presets and clock memorized. Then there is the main power that is tied to your "accessory" so that your radio turns on when the key is turned. Whoever installed your radio didn't put the power cable that goes to the battery, for whatever reason.

Sounds like it's been wired wrong, and the "keep alive" wire that is supposed to be always hot is going off with the key switch.

There is a short, or bad connection in the wiring somewhere. Check that it is properly gorund. A solution would be to re-wire the system.

the wire that runs straight to the battery must not be hooked up. they call it the "remote" wire. they are sometimes orange or purple. without this wire hooked up the radio will not keep the memory.

well my grandma's car did tht her car was reseting or her battery was messed up cause wen the car dies everything resets so tht could be a possibility
