I'm a Christian and am led to believe that Jesus was the King of the Jews. If that's the case, why have separate faiths...Jewdaism and Christianity?

Because the bible talks about the jews that saw his miracles, but refused to believe that he was Messiah. Everyone that opposed him, that crucified him, none of them believed that he was Messiah. "And their hearts were hardened, and they believed not". The Pharisees saw blind men see, the crippled walk, and they killed him. They tried to charge him for healing people on the Sabbath, but they did not believe him. Lazerith was dead for 4 days and he gave him life, and they did not believe him. So that shows us why, no matter how much you say, how much you show, how much you prove, some people just refuse to believe.

Then you have the disciples that were jews, and Jesus told them to go out and spread the word, and they called themselves and the ones that they taught Christians. And, then god brought down a sheet with all unclean beasts and fowl and creeping things unto peter and he was allowed to preach the word of Christ to the gentiles. That is why Jesus is for everyone and not just the Jews. I thought that scripture was very important, but you dont hear much of it. So anyway anyone that accepts Christ is now a Christian, anyone that is waiting for the messiah to come and follows the old testament is a Jew.

Jesus was a Jewish and and Islamic prophet. However some of his followers decided he was the messiah who the Jews are still waiting for. So those Jews who believed he was the messiah formed a separate sect but they were still Jewish. However some of them started to allow non Jewish people to join the group. This caused a split and some of the Jews who did not want non Jews formed their own sect and it still exists although quite small and the others form a separate group called Christians.
Islam believe that Jesus will one day return because of all their prophets he is the only one who went up to heaven in bodily form so that he could return in that body
One of the problems for most Christians is that they are brought up with the bible containing the four gospels which the early church in the 4th Century decided was going to be put in there as that is what they wanted people to believe. However there are about 30 odd other gospels which were left out and some of them do not mention the Crucifixion so we can never be sure what the real situation was at the time that Jesus lived

At the very point that Jesus made the claims.

Everyone who had a hand in the writing of the New Testament (except Luke, I think) were Jews who were believers in Jesus and his claim to be the Messiah.

Christianity (known then as 'The Way') was at first, another sect of Judaism. But the Pharisees and the Sadducees (the two main Jewish sects) in concert with the Roman government began to stomp it out . . . and we know that Christianity outlasted Rome and grew much bigger than Judaism

Jews don't believe that Christ was their savior. He was a prophet, a good man, but he wasn't the messiah. They believe their savior has still not made an appearance. The christians broke off from the jews after Christs' death.

Christ really wasn't called "The King of the Jews", that was a title given to him on the cross. It was meant to be derogatory. Most Jews at the time, took offense to it.

Jews do not believe Jesus was the Christ (Messiah). Some that followed Jesus (also Jews for the most part at first) did and the resulting religion of those followers was Christianity.

Most Jewish people do not believe that Jesus was the son of God. According to Jewish religious documents, the son of God, the messiah, was supposed to do certain things. Jesus did not fulfill the prophesy therefore they did not believe he was the messiah. Jesus being a "King" of the jews is a testament to his lineage of the house of King David.

So, there are separate religions because those who believe that Jesus is the messiah are known as Christians and those who do not (and still follow the old testament of the bible) are Jewish.

The Christian Jews were kicked out of the synagogues( by those Jews who did not accept Jesus as the Messiah) after the temple in Jerusalem was destroyed by the Romans in 60AD. Everyone then went their seperate ways. Sorry 70AD, my mistake.

Paul explained it in Romans and Hebrews. The Jews were blinded to the truth in part so all could come in to the family of God on equal footing according to their own personal faith. Some day the northern and southern kingdoms of Israel will be re-united. The gentiles also will know and understand.
