I have natural blonde hair but lately i've been getting really tired of and i've been thinking of coloring it brown.
none of my friends agree with me because once i color it, i'll never get my natural color back

and there's those blonde roots i'll be getting...

I color my hair every few weeks and you can tell your friends they are wrong about you losing your natural haircolor. I say boo to that. If you want to go back to natural you can, but don't go back too fast or you will over-process your hair and cause damage that will take even longer to reverse.

I suggest meeting with a professional colorist and getting a good feel of what a darker color will look like on you. Once you settle on the right shade, you can make the change. If you don't like it, you will have some options that your colorist can suggest from that point. But going back to lighter and your original color will not ever be out of reach.

Also for roots there are several ways to approach this, you can cover it with root only color or a color powder. In some cases a root color difference can actually deepen the overall hair appearance. So again, consult your colorist. Once you work with a professional the first time, you can be able to do things solo in the future with less disasterous results than my first time when I went from brown to ORANGE. Now I can go from black to red to brown to blonde and back again with no problems.

Well, in my opinion, everyone looks best in their natural hair colour.
But if you really want a change, try doing highlights with some light brown shades in there. Don't dye your hair a completely different colour. This way, your blonde roots won't be a problem, but I don't know, even though I'm blonde, my roots are always darker than the rest of my hair. Just try to keep it lively with many shades, and you'll have blonde and brown all in one.
