When I lived in New Jersey I used to occasionally go up to the casinos in Atlantic City, and I never became addicted to gambling, and neither did any of my friends......so not everyone becomes addicted. And as to the prostitutes and criminals.....they might have been there, but I never noticed any.

The people that think casinos are full of prostitutes and criminals are probably the same people that think homosexuals are going to poison the minds of our children to make more homosexuals and also believe that pre-marital sex is for sinners.
Are there prostitutes at casinos? Sure. But I've also seen prostitutes every time I've gone to the Ritz Carlton for drinks.
As far as being run by criminals, that is a carryover from the old stories of Vegas in the 60's when it was the wild west. Just like anything, casinos are essentially money printing machines and the last thing any person that owns one wants to do is jeopardize their business. Also, it is extremely regulated now due to the large amounts of money involved. The Nevada Gaming Commision, for example.
Certaily, casinos can be dangerous if someone has a gambling addiction, but that is true of anything. Cigarettes, alcohol, food, video games, exercise... All of these things can be detrimental to a person's health or financial situation if they are abused. But I don;t see anyone banning Malboros, Budweiser, Big Macs, gyms, or Xbox's. Do you?

The casino industry is very tightly regulated and under intense scrutiny. There was a time when organized crime was involved in the "legal" gaming industry in Las Vegas, but that time has long since passed. My understanding is that illegal gambling is and has long been closely associated with the organized crime.
Not everyone is vulnerable to gambling addiction. Certain individuals are more likely to become addicted than others. Gambling addictions share a lot of similarities with substance abuse and addiction. In fact, there is some speculation among mental health professionals that there is a relationship between a deficiency in dopamine (a neural transmitter) levels in the brain and gambling addictions. There are twelve-step programs for gamblers just like there are for alcoholics and substance abusers.
Prostitution is legal in parts of Nevada (but not in Las Vegas). There apparently are a large number of them in Las Vegas. Are the casinos in Las Vegas or anywhere else in the USA full of them? No.

ha ha me thinks you been watching too much TV!!!
Ive been in casinos all over the world (throu work not play) and eventhou i have had a chance to gamble at many of them i have chosen not to.
it just depends on the kind of person you are.
Any casino in the UK that thinks you have a problem with gambling to the point it is affecting your life ( as in loosing property , partner etc) is obliged to suspend your membership and give you advice on gamblers anonymous.
Sometimes prostitutes and criminals etc will enter the casinos but as soon as they are spotted they are asked to leave and permanently suspended, if the are deemed un suitable characters to have in.
i understand casinos in the states and Caribbean and S.America etc are a little more relaxed on who enters but rest assured people they still have measures out there to prevent undesirables from entering.
They really do have someone sat in an office watching the gaming floor all the time!!!!!
Casinos are fun and safe places to be as long as you treat it as such. As soon as you start taking it too seriously you should hand in ur membership cards.

"We battle not against flesh and blood, but against powers and principalities of wickedness and darkness in high places."
"Satan comes to rob steal and destroy."
Gambling is a dangerous addiction. Gambling harms families and individuals. Not everyone will become addicted, but enough will that it is harmful. Gambling is not designed to win, but many people fall prey to it.
Casinos are magnets for wickedness and darkness. God gives us freewill with the power to choose right from wrong. Some people are weaker than others and are more prone to become addicted. "There is NO pie in the sky so don't go looking for it in a casino or anywhere else!"

I don't think casinos are run by criminals. But the owners have to have some "background", and powerful enough to deal with anything (even criminals). As for the prostitutes, it really depends, not all casinos are full of prostitutes....

Responsible gaming is promoted throughout the gaming industry in the UK, you might as well ask if the Bookies are full of hookers and ran by criminals. I've worked in casinos for most of my adult life I started in Sargent York's in Manchester in the 80's and I've seen many bad boys punting, but going out in most city centres exposes you to more of the criminal element than you will every come across in a casino.

maybe the Vegas casinos have hookers, the local ones I go to I doubt. Anywhere there are people with money to burn, you'll have criminals scheming to take their money. I don't think any of the local casinos here brought any crime into their areas, but they are on Indian land (San Diego). As for me, the gambling is boring, but the food is good and so is the entertainment they book.

Most casinos today are operated by major hotels. They are not full of criminals.
Compulsive gamblers do not need casinos to gamble. That is like saying liquor stores and bars promote alcoholism.
Most casinos are actually full of tourists and people having fun that can manage the money.
Prostitutes are everywhere but I am sure they are no more welcome in casinos than anywhere else.
