Because there are so many law enforcement "jails" it would be difficult to find your information over the internet. Additionally, because people confined to jail may "bond out" as soon as they're booked, it's too time consumming to provide that information on an internet site.
"Inmate searches" general are not helpful because they normally only list State Correctional Facilities and not the local city and county jails.
If you have an idea of where in a state he may be, contact the local "metro" or county jail. They MIGHT be able to help!

Of course, there are many websites, but if you want a complete background and current information, including if that person is in jail, probably you will have to pay a fee.
