In my opinion abortion should be illegal because murder is illegal. When you have an abortion the doctor is murdering your baby. you never know your child could make a difference in the world but you'll never know because you got the baby aborted. The least you could do is have the baby then give it up for adoption. It's better that the baby at least gets a chance to live instead of them never finding out what it feels like to be in the world. But, that is just my opinion I want to know if it is legal or illegal in the U.S. and I want to hear other peoples point of view.

:-)

In legal terms, a fetus and a baby are considered differently - thus the homocide of a pregnant woman is still one homocide (though I beleive it is in the last trimester where the distinction changes). Secondly, you use the term murder. Not all homocides are murder. The forcible and nonconcentual abortion against a woman would be a crime (which would be the most equal to murder), albeit not murder.

That covers the core of the legal perspective... in short, abortion is not and cannot be considered murder on any point. From a medical perspective, a baby is considered differently based on it's development. At the earliest stages it is just growing tissue. While that tissue may have the potential to become life, it's removal for the benefit of the patient (be it for physical or emotional health reasons, or other consideration) is not different than the removal of a cancer or skin discoloration. As the developmental term carries on, this becomes a more difficult issue - which is reflected in medical standards for the basis of when and under what conditions an abortion procedure is considered appropriate.

However, I think what you are really asking about is the morality of the issue. Which is more blurred, and complicated by what we also consider to be the basic rights of all involved (both the potential life and that of the potential parent). As for my personal belief on the matter, I tend to side towards protecting the rights and freedoms we have in the law. Though I do so with the thought that such a decision is not something a potential parent would come to lightly - at least it is beyond my thought that someone would simply do so. And I cannot imagine anyone better aquainted with what is happening to make that choice than the person involved. Ideally, we'd better promote birth control and place fewer people into the position of having to make such a difficult choice (but the issue of why those that are against abortion are also generally against birth control is another issue entirely).

Aborion IS legal. It IS a legal right that citizens have. The people should decide what should be done regarding a womans body, the exceptions and what are freedoms are and are not. Here's my problem with the right to lifers... One day I was driving down the street - and I saw a man with a sign that said "Baby Murdering Factory" with an arrow pointing down the street - and he had a doll - with red paint all over it and a noose around it's neck - and he was holding both of these things up. Apparently - there was an abortion clinic down the street. Now - I don't think abortion is a good thing. It's certainly NOT something that should be used as birth control. I've never had an abortion. BUT - abortion is LEGAL in this country. And until it is illegal - people like that JERK with his sign and baby doll - need to mind their own business. Maybe if he'd truly been a compassionate, caring person - he could have held up a sign that said "Don't do it. I'll house you until you have the baby - and then I'll adopt it." Throwing guilt at the women who choose abortion doesn't solve much of anything. I mean really - - - MAYBE some girl going down that road and seeing that sign was a victim of rape. And maybe after a lot of thought and prayer and counseling - she decided that terminating the pregnancy was the best thing. And THEN - she had to see that jerk with that sign. It's just wrong. Some of the right-to-life people take it too far. Again - ABORTION IS LEGAL IN THIS COUNTRY!!

I guess I'm going to be the black sheep, but I know I'm not the only one who feels this way. I don't think abortion should be illegal. It used to be and women still had them, but instead of a baby not being born the young women who had the abortions often died due to the horrible conditions of back alley abortion.

I think it's ironic that people that say they are pro life are often people who don't give a damn about people living in poverty. Every one says adoption adoption adoption. Screw adoption. I don't know what mom could give up her child once it was born. It sucks getting an abortion because you do feel some guilt. I know I had one. But looking back I wouldn't change it. I thought about it for a long time before I had mine and it was the right decision for me.

Now that I'm ready to be a mom I have my beautiful little girl, but I don't look down or judge people for what they do when it comes to abortion. It's not an easy decision and I don't think anyone takes it lightly.

Oh and to you people that say life begins at conception. Leviticus 17:11 says " the life of the flesh is in the blood" and a fetus doesn't have blood until the heart forms 3 weeks after conception.

Unfortunately abortion is legal in the U.S. all the way through 9 months. You are absolutely right- just imagine, murder is legal in America. The reason I know that it is murder, that LIFE BEGINS AT CONCEPTION- no matter if you are ready to hear that or not. I am adopted and have 2 adopted kids and all our birth moms chose life. Every child has been given a purpose, long before he/she were even conceived. Things that are legal does not necessarily mean it is right. You are right to say that abortion is taking a life.

My opinion on abortion is it should be illegal. It is death

and murder of a unborn baby. And abortion is against

God. God hates abortion, more than any other sin or

crime, anyone could commit. I know this, because I

read God's Word, which is the Bible, and I am a Christian.

Just take my advice, if your thinking of getting an abortion,

don't do it. It is wrong.

its murder but I would rather people not have sex no sex no kids if they can't afford it and are stupid enough to get pg it should be put up for adoption but for some I can understand teens getting an abortion though its wrong their kids will have bad lives or people that can't mentally or financially take care of it i'd rather see them get an abortion then them end up in foster homes later when its too late for someone to take them in cause their not babies anymore or born as crack babies

It is 100% legal...

It is not a baby until it is alive and breathing on it's own.
Women are not incubators
Zygotes are not babies
Abortion is not murder
