Odd question.

An egg is a chicken fetus. Happy?

A fetus isn't a baby, a fetus is a baby in the making. An egg isn't a chicken, it's a chicken in the making.

Hope that clears it up for you :)

If you accept that a "potential baby" is the same thing as an actual baby, then a "potential chicken" is the same as an actual chicken.

I am a "potential corpse". However, I'd prefer not to be treated as an actual one until after I'm dead.

Similarly, my car is "potential scrap metal". Some people unkindly dispute the "potential" bit.
