My friend likes a guy, and so do I, but she doesn't know that i like him. This guy likes me back and i think he might ask me out soon. But my friend doesn't know that the guy likes me, either. When the guy asks me out i don't want my friend to be mad at me, but i also really want to go out with this guy. Basically what i want to know is if i should not go out with him because my friend likes him.

You're right, that is a pretty bad situation. This is what i did with my friends: we made a pact. We said stuff like :
1. You act all crazy jelous when one of us gets a boyfriend. (even if you are)
2. You can't make a boy like you and whoever he chooses is allowed to say yes.
3. Chicks before Dix.
4. Don't spend more time with a boy then you would with your friend.
and so on. If you make a pact like this one, then when he says yes, you would be able to say yes and your friend would understand because of the pact.

My best advice would be to talk to your friend--better that she finds out from you than her find out through the grapevine or worse, on her own. Keep in mind that guys come and go, too. Ask yourself if this dude is worth possibly loosing your friendship if your friend is really into him. Not to be too pessimistic, but as long as you come to terms with worse case scenario, you'll be able to make a more sound decision. Good luck and don't loose too much sleep over this :)

ok first of all, dont base your decision on what others tell you is right. my advice is: its really hard knowing that you will hurt your friend. this kind of problem should be resolved based on what good of a friend your friend is, how good of a catch this guy is, how much do you really like him. while its not really wrong to take your chance with this guy in your situation, you should still consider those things. do what you think is best for you. it would be great to make a decision that will make you happy and wont hurt your friend or this guy but you cant always do what everybody wants.

well, talk to your friend...if she is your true friend, she shouldn't get mad over a boy...but if she liked him first and more, respect her, but don't miss out on your chance over anything petty, but don't loose a good friend on a boy that who knows will it last.......making sense?.............
