If they allow you to drive their car, they will have to add you to ther insurance and their rates will definately go up. My nephew just turned 18 and has a car and a license but is still unable to drive it until he earns enough to get his own insurance.My sister cannot afford to add him to her insurance so he isn't allowed to drive her car either.

Yes. More drivers on the policy mean greater risk, so the rates go up.

If you live in their home, they should have added you to the policy as soon as you got your permit. And yes, their rates will go up. Quite a bit.
