I make a profit by putting a mark up on what I sell.So does any trading business. I stay in business by giving my customers good value & service. I aint rich but I've got a lot of friends I sold cars to.

If by "car traders" you mean auto brokers, they buy low - often by monitoring papers nationwide or hiring scouts and sell high.

Brokers also make money by charging a finder's fee for locating a car for the client.

buy cheap cars...fix them up a little bit..sell high

but dont buy something you cant fix for cheaper than the profit you will make from it

and if you break even..its not worth the effort

often times cars are an investment business so they will buy a cheap car and make it work and look like new but really it comes down to salesmanship skills i guarentee you that if u are an experienced sales men you can make a sale at any cost
