I will tell you that most of the products that are sold in target or walmart that you can find in salons are in the black market. Meaning that somebody who can buy them(as a stylist) sells them to others. It's not a good way to buy them because if you read the label(only sold in salons) their is usually something wrong with the product and the store cannot guarantee the product itself, they can only refund your money. A lot of people will tell you to use Pantene. Pantene has floor wax in it and leaves a really filthy build up one the hair. I will have to recommend using Biolage hydrating shampoo and conditioning balm or Vavoom Bodifying shampoo and conditioner. it works very well on dry hair. AS a stylist I tend to color a lot. I have found that those 2 are the best on the market right now. Also, please do not use hot oil treatments. Oil and water do NOT mix and will leave a coating on your hair rather than giving it moisture. Protein boost products also help the hair.

I use this Garnier [sp?] shampoo and conditioner[in the green bottle]. If you dont like that, though, I would go with anything with a thick conditioner. Never use runny conditioner on dry hair.. it doesn't work! I have tried pretty much every shampoo out there for my dry hair and the best so far is the Garnier.. it's also very affordable. I've tried Aussie before, and I found that I liked their hair styling products much more than their actual shampoo. The shampoo left my hair feeling just as brittle and dry as before I washed it. Pantene is made out of floor wax [no joke.] and it weighs your hair down too much.
Well... hope I've helped!

Paul Mitchell Tea Tree [It's expensive, but it works well. Be careful the first time you use it though, it might feel like your head's on fire. In a good way, of course.] can be bought at beauty salons or hair salons, if you have a Sally's. Other than that go to Wal-Mart, K-Mart or Target and buy Head an Shoulders, thats an inexpensive kind of shampoo.

I switch back and forth between Tresemme and Infusium 23 mostly. They won't cause build up. Get these in a moisturizing shampoo. Also if you expose your hair to lots of chemical treatments (i.e. perms and color) your hair may be damaged with split ends and could be the cause of your dry hair. There is NO shampoo that will repair split ends. Once they are split, they need to be trimmed off. Professionals usually recommend that you get your hair trimmed at least every 4-6 weeks. This will also help. Lastly, if you use a hair dryer, use it on the coolest setting. If a straightener is used, use it in continuous passes over your hair without stopping to prevent breakage.

There are TONS of moisturizing shampoos for dry hair. You can even get the "salon" lines, like the Suave version of Nexxus and Biolage that treat dry/damaged hair.
You can try Aussie Moist shampoo or even Mane 'n' Tail. I prefer the Suave version of the salon lines myself. I personally use the version that works like Nexxus (I prefer the scent) because I have professionally highlighted hair that tends to get a little dry.
Hope this helps!

Straight Arrow: Mane and Tail. They have shampoo, conditioner, and a nail treatment. It was originally used to bathe horses, and I used their entire line while rehabilitating an abused, malnourished horse who came into my care. I noticed that the hoof stuff made my nails grow really quickly (and strongly), and others did, too. Then, the company began marketing a line for people. I pay under $6 for a very large bottle of shampoo or conditioner at Walgreens. Even with long hair, it lasts me around 3 months.
