She has her teeth brushed at night. She has stopped breastfeeding at bedtime, and goes to sleep without any milk. Could this cause it?

Sometimes stomach upset causes bad breath...have you ever asked talk to your dr about this...acid reflux may cause bad breath. Brush her teeth in the am when she wakes up, too!

The same thing that makes you wake up with bad breath. It's bacteria. Just be sure you are brushing and flossing her teeth at least twice a day. If it's really horrible and you suspect a problem you might want to take her to a pediatric dentist. My son likes to eat slices of raw onions, so we know all about that morning baby breath at my house!!

Now you need to consider your own breath when you wake up. Just because someone brushes and then doesn't eat or drink, doesn't mean that they will not have bad breath in the morning. Thats why we also make sure our childrens teeth are cared for in the morning too.

I had a similar problem with my 11 month old son after he had tonsilitis. Turns out that he had a anaerobic throat infection (different to tonsilitis) that needed an antibiotic course. The doctor also recommended changing his diet for a bit as some products just don't sit well with some kids when they are sick or recovering. In the end we finished out his course of antibiotics and along with eliminating custard and yogurt products for the next 3 weeks as these tended to exasperate the condition and definatly made the breath worse (the bacteria in the dairy products was just reducing the effectivness of the drugs?). This plus lots of fluids after each snack cleared the bad breath up completely about a week after we finished up the antibiotic course. Not guarenteed to work but it seemed to do the trick for us.

the same thing that makes a 22 yr old adult's breath bad in the morning. think about it, some adults brush their teeth at night and none of us get breast fed anymore. our mouth's being closed all night and the lack of food and drink in our mouths causes bad breath.
and also any type of bacteria from gums, teeth, or anything else.

My son is 11 months old and he wakes up with bad breath. It's normal at his age and above. Just like adults, kids have bad breath too. Just make sure you brush her teeth in the morning and before she goes to bed...Don't feel bad.
When my son gets up in the morning with stinky breath, my husband and I tease him and he starts laughing. Then I brush his teeth and he's good to go. I beleive it's the food that they endure all day long and it just sticks to there tongue. Make sure you brush her tongue too.

Catarrh, or mucous from a cold. My baby is 11 months and she has just had a stinking cold, her nose was all stuffed up and she had a cough.
Her breath was bad when she woke up but as her cold goes, so does the bad breath...
