Yeah, there is no "we" in painting the baby's room, that's a Daddy and/or friends job. You can have the room painted any time you like. If you want to go with a neutral scheme, or at least have a neutral color to go with either gender scheme down the road when you find out, hand him a paint roller and a bucket. If you want to decorate for the gender of the baby, you'll need to wait. Just remember, it will be easier to paint without all the furniture in there, so place your timing around that.

My wife is 36wks preg with our 3rd baby and we have recently done the nursery. I would suggest waiting until your at least 24 weeks. I always think its better to do the nursery as late as possible so thats its clean and fresh for baby, but ultimately its up to you.

good luck

your partner should paint the babys room, because of the fumes from the paint.you may be better off waiting until after your 20 week scan then you will have a better idea of colour, that is of course if you want to no the babys sex.

on our first child we painted in neutral colours when i was about 24 weeks cos i couldnt wait any longer. but after falling pregnant again and having a miscarriage then i would suggest waiting longer than this as it is harder if anything goes wrong. do it when you are ready.

Any time you want to, but don't do it yourself, I know its frustrating for us independent ladies but this time it really is a mans job, too much stretching and ladders etc.

I would leave 8 weeks for the fumes to clear. That was what I was recommended when I was pregnant and I had my hubby running round the house with a roller, with me behind him saying, 'you need to be finished within 2 weeks'!

I was excited so did it as soon as I could!! Brighter colours are more stimulating for babies so I went for big animals and little lights dotted about!! It looks really cool and I want a room just like it!! Good luck!! xxx

You may want to wait to see if it is a boy or girl during your ultrasound to decide on color/decor. But YOU should NOT paint the room...daddy should...stay away from fumes & ladders!

get him to do it nearer the time you, pick the colours together, I remember doing it for my daughter did it with about four months to go and then filled the room with cosy toys and didnt finish the cot till the day the baby came home. old family tradition. but the room really was cosy with stimulating colours.

Best to paint it early so any paint fumes have time to dissipate before baby comes.
