Just go to their websites - like Purina & you can sign up for a free sample to do a taste test with your dogs (and cats too - of course.)

I like to get the free samples and donate them to my local shelter. Sometimes they send you a coupon for a free small bag (which is anywhere from 3-8 lbs). The dogs in the shelter will appreciate any food they can get, even if it's not something I will feed my own dog.

Don't get food from any mass market company like Purina, Iams/Eukanuba, Pedigree, Science Diet, etc.

All high quality foods (found in pet speciality stores) will have samples as well. Try foods like Innova, Wellness, Solid Gold, Canidae, etc if you really care about your pets and want them to live a long, healthy life.
