Turbotax is a lot cheaper if you have a little confidence. H&R block are nothing but a bunch of soccer moms that took a few classes on how to use essentially the same software that resembles Turbotax in the first place. Good luck!

I at, one time worked for H&R Block. They will allow you after completing their basic course to apply for a position with their company to fill out income taxes.

Of course they have seasoned managers on hand to assist you with any potential problems and check your work prior to it being submitted.

I have personally used turbo tax for many years and can't say enough about it, but that is a personal preference. My daughter uses Tax cut which is a H&R Block tax program, she likes it pretty well, it also might be that it is normally cheaper than Turbo Tax also.

All taxes are currently being done by computer now, so unless you strike the wrong key or was experimienting and sent the wrong tax in all probability your taxes will be done correctly.

So it boils down to how confident you are in filling out and filing your taxes yourself.

If you want to go to Block, perhaps wait in line and pay someone to do your taxes or are you an adventuresome go it alone type that will attempt anything once.

Then stop by Staples or Officed Depot pick up which every you feel comfortable with, go home grab your W-2s, and other tax related materail, a cup of java, insert the tax programs, follow the simple directions. After a few minutes you can print your taxes, review them, check them and re-check them then mail them to good ole Uncle Sam.

Most of the proggrams have a way you can email them to the boogy man (IRS)

There is also a free tax program that you can use on the internet. I am not sure of the link, but try something to do with IRS free tax program or taxes, I am sure you will run across it.

I hope this has been of some use to you, good luck

I am assuming the computer programs. I use Turbotax. I think but I may be wrong you get a free e-file thru Turbotax but have to pay for H&R Block e-file. Turbotax is a little more expensive but with the free e-file it makes up the difference. I get the Turbotax deluxe with federal and state. I like it and it is easy to use.....hope this helps.

TurboTax is a computer program you use yourself.
H & R Block has an actual service where trained people do your taxes for you. (THey also have software you can use yourself, I believe.) If you don't know much about doing taxes, you're better off paying H & R BLock or another service (Jackson Hewitt is another one) to do them for you.

turbo tax! h&r block is just minimally trained people using just about the same software for you. the new turbo tax commercial that depicts that is actually quite accurate. i used h&r block once upon a time and the employee seemed like a teen on his day off from the fast food joint... thankfully i had friends/family who thought strongly enough that i should've gotten more back, and after doing it over with them i ended up getting more money. apparently the guy just assumed i wouldn't qualify for certain deductions without asking and skipped those screens. that is my experience and i've only heard about the same or worse from everyone everywhere. i only use turbotax now for years, with pretty complex itemization, and we're very happy with it.

IF (stress on th word IF) you have a simple tax filing without a lot of complex issues (rental properties, side businesses, home expenses etc..) then Turbo tax is likely the best choice (it is a software program...NOT a service or company)

If you have a lot of grey areas that you need to sit and explain to someone so that they can make the best decision, then go to H&R.

I've used both. However, I've permanently switched to Turbotax because I find it easier to use and understand. It has wonderful help features.

Turbo-tax....you can do it yourself, and on line. You pay for it when you finish, it's a very easy program to use and will explain everything you need to know. It will also save you money...H&R Block is a scam. Those offices are full of people who get qualifed to do your taxes after 5 or 6 classes. I would not trust them with my taxes, I would feel safer doing them myself!

Try TAXACTONLINE.com. Only $16 for state and federal. Easy to use and free if you only want to print your return. Never had a problem and get my returns back in a week or two.
