This sounds kind of mean but when i put my son on timeout, he is not allow anything. I just let him stand facing the wall and he sometime realize what he does and he will come tell me he is sorry when he is ready.... i use to let him stand there with his pacifier but he ends up falling asleep (my guess is because he has something to suck on lol) He is only 23 months.... every child is different..... only you can tell what is best for your baby... good luck....

Ok, but is she ready to get rid of it? Seriously you are ruining their teeth and speech with a pacifier for that long. They are forced to talk around the pacificer and eventually when the pacifier if taken (what when she starts school..or is it going with her than to?) she will be used to talking around a pacificer and it will be too late and her speech will be ruined. She will spend years in speech therapy just bc you couldn't take a pacifier away at the age of 2. Do her the favor and take it away.

I would say let her keep one for just timeout. Bag up the other pacifiers and tell her that there are orphan babies that need pacifiers. When she is not with you take them to a friend's house or family's house and ask them to throw them away for you. When you get home, explain to your daughter that the orphan fairy took the pacifiers to the babies. It may help. God Bless!

Why dont you want to get rid of it? You should have never given it to her/him in the first place. I think paccis are just a tool that lazy parents use as a plug because they dont know how to love and comfort their children. Your kid is going to grow up emotionally attached and have bad teeth. And isnt the point of time out to punish and teach the child that they have done wrong? Buck up and take the damn thing away from him/her, just be prepared for the first time you put your kid in time out and dont give her/him their pacci and they trrow a fit. STICK TO YOUR GUNS! kids can break our hearts but you have to be strong for their well being and believe me itll hurt you WAAAAY more than it hurts them.

well then why are you posting this....she is way to old for a pacifier....get rid of it you will do her yourself and her teeth a favor...find other ways to get her to timeout or whatever reason you seem to be clinging onto this thing!

I think it's fine. 3 minutes time-out maximum, of course, for a 3-year-old. If the pacifier helps her relax for the 3 minutes, I think she should keep it.
PS Remember, one minute of time out per year of age. A child should never be left in time-out so long they fall asleep!!

Three is kind of old to have a pacifier don't you think? It may possibly ruin her teeth.

um, just an opinion, but i think three is too old--if they have one for too long, I was told by a dentist, it could affect their teeth (like make them stick out more).
sounds like it helps you more than her...
I sucked my thumb when i was small and it did affect my teeth some, so I don't advise one at her age. get rid of it!

So don't get rid of it. Everyone has a different timetable. And we all need something to comfort us.
