Its personal opinion which brand is No.1. For the top five and their feature comparisons check out Nikon, Cannon, Sony, Panasonic and Pentax.

This question ranks up there with "What is your favorite time of day." There is so much to consider. All these answers are great. You need to decide what you want it for, and how much do you want to do with it. There are too many choices which makes it even harder to decide. My advice is to figure out what you want to do, and then spend as much as you possibly can. One thing for sure, if you like a feature on a higher priced camera, but decide on the cheaper camera, you will later regret that you didn't spend the extra few dollars. This can be a big investment, and you only want to do it once. I do forensic photography, and I have about $20,000.oo wrapped up in my gear. And I'm just getting started. Whatever you choose to do, good luck.

It really depends on what you are doing.
If it;s just point and shoot at parties ect. I recommend the older Sony Models. The small, but blocky models take good pictures (red-eye is a problem) but are study as heck.
Also, don't forget to ask people at the electronics store about models not on display. They will always want to sell you the most expensive. Also, there are always "open box" item which are usually between 30-50 bucks less then the new ones.

Since you've told us absolutely nothing about yourself, your needs, price range, what you'll be using it for, etc.
I'll just recommend a Fuji 31fd... and not tell you why.

The Kodak V610
It's small, slick, has Bluetooth, takes fantastic pics. We've had ours for a few months now, and we absolutely LOVE it.
