Sorry, my bad. You guys are right. The animal sacrifices were done before Buddhism entered that area of the world. It was from a question on some homework that I couldn't find in the book.

I thought those were the two that would at least make sense. Unless these two are also possibilities:

-does not value the role of the spiritual leader

-has spread to Malaysia and Indonesia

They drink Yak's milk. IT is yummy on a super cold day. Don't kill them though. Some of the tantric stuff is a pretty funky way of meditation though. Not quite as much fun for women thoughl.

You're referring to the old animistic beliefs BEFORE Tibetan Buddhism. I don't know if the Bonpos do that but Buddhism really disagrees that Bon is Buddhism.

Rituals? Depends on what you call "ritual". There are mantras chanted, things done on holidays, etc. You'd have to be WAY more specific for me to give you a short answer w/o writing a book. I'm here for a few more hours before I die from this darn virus... so if you've got a specific question I'll be happy to try to answer.

LOVE SHEPERD: (sorry for the personal communication but...) there's a GREAT book available at Snow Lion about women in tantra... you've gotta read.

Buddhism does not sacrifice any animals at all...most Buddhists are vegetarian and the thought of violence against animals is appaling to them...all Bhuddist sects incorporate some type of ritual, usually something simple like chanting or meditation...
