Why do Americans blame the drug problem on illegals?

According to the federal Household Survey, "most current illicit drug users are white. There were an estimated 9.9 million whites (72 percent of all users), 2.0 million blacks (15 percent), and 1.4 million Hispanics (10 percent) who were current illicit drug users in 1998." And yet, blacks constitute 36.8% of those arrested for drug violations, over 42% of those in federal prisons for drug violations. African-Americans comprise almost 58% of those in state prisons for drug felonies; Hispanics account for 20.7%.

I can't believe that most of the people on here blame drug use on illegals when it is whitey using them darn drugs.

Anyone have an idea how many illegals would have to cross through the dessert to smuggle the tons of drugs required to satisfy America's drug appetite?

Trust me when I say that a few kilos may cross on the back of an illegal, but not much more than that. The drugs are coming in through other means.

You are right, numerically there are more whites in the US, but it does not stand to reason that there should be more whites drug users. Harvard, the university, more than half of the student body is comprised of Jews and Asians even though they account for five percent in the general population. So much for your logic.

I could mention the percentage of the racial groups in the general population, but it would not change the fact that the drug user population is overwhelmingly white. Yes, I only mentioned whitey as the problem, mostly because they are the problem.

Illegals may not be a race to the educated, yet here on Y!A it is an ethnic group. If you don't believe look at the other answer provided. They all point south. By using hispanics I have over compensated for the drug abuse of illegals. It still has relavance since illegals are overwhemlingly hispanic.

I don't. I blame the drug problem on the war on drugs. There is no such thing as a war on an inanimate object so it is really a war on people. They've used extreme punishments and racial profiling instead of actually trying to help people. But to answer your question, there are more whites here so of course there might be more white drug users. If you break it down to percentage of users and percentage of population you might come up with different figures. Still, drug addiction is no respecter of race. This is a problem for all people. And you don't have to be rude or presume all Americans or whites think and feel the same.

Were you ever educated on reading and understanding percentages and statistics?? There are numerically many more whites in the U.S. than any other race, so it only stands to reason that there are numerically more white drug users. Why don't you also list the total number of whites, blacks, and hispanics that currently reside in the U.S. legally and that will help you put it into perspective?? You only mention "whitey" in your statistics for "drug users", but in your final sentence you blame everything on "whitey using them d** drugs"...By the way, illegal aliens are not in these statistics at all, only "Hispanics" so they have no relation to your statistics. Illegal aliens are not a race, it is a category, so your whole logic is flawed.

i very rarely see people on here blaming the illegals for drug use. why is it that illegals think all americans are against them? it can go either way. any right-minded american citizen knows that the illegals are not the only ones to blame for the drug epidemic in america. and it's not only "whitey" using the darn drugs either. it is the legal and illegal whites, blacks, mexicans, asians, indians, etc. that use drugs. people of every race. you are inappropriately generalizing drug users into one race. what then makes you so much better than the person who apparently insulted you to begin with?? you don't need to quote statistics to prove common sense to people who already have it.

I don't blame anyone for any ones drug use.To me it is the self induced problem of the drug user.Nothing more.Its their fault and they alone must take the responsibility for their weakness.I don't think its an illness,its a vice that they were too weak to turn away from.Accessibility never started a drug habit nor lack of it cured
one.I blame the person that is stupid enough to get hooked on drugs.

As for the number of more white users ,there are more whites in this nation than any other color.,that's a no brainier .

No one on here has blamed anyone's drug use on illegals. Illegal aliens and drug and weapons smuggling are all related since they are a result of our borders not being sufficiently protected. There are drug cartels in Nuevo Laredo having drug wars in the streets killing each other and law enforcement in the fighting for the drug trade. Not all illegal aliens are drug smugglers, but all drug smugglers are illegal, can you comprehend this??

First of all. There is enough blame to go around for all colors and cultures. It is not whitey or darky or browny or even paisley.

Second, both drugs and illegals come over the border in large quantities. This makes it easy for people who are comfortable in their ignorance to blame it on the illegals.
