Ha, well they are still sickening places to me, and I don't think for one minute I am "depriving" my kid of being exposed to a nasty environment.

Oh No, You are sooooo on target!!!! My son is only 10 months but it amazes me how moms let thier children play with "public" toys like these....especially toys in a Doctors Office, why are the kids there??? Because most of them are sick!!!! I could care less if people think I'm a bit "off"....I try to expose my son to as few germs as possible...he gets enough in Day Care! You keep doing what you're doing!!!

did you watch Oprah last week when the doctor was on there? We are all bacteria and germ infested. You cannot ever keep germs away. I have a 2 yr old and I try to be as careful as possible, but there is no possible way to protect any child from germs unless they live in a glass bubble. As far as small toys or things at a doctors office that they could put in their mouth--avoid, but like things they can climb and play on at McDonalds (not sure about Chuckie Cheese-i don't go there), let them be kids. You can sanitize every 30 seconds and you will never keep germs away.
And think about what you will do when your child goes to school? What will you do then? just a thought...

Germs are everywhere. If you think that Chuck E Cheese is germ infested, have you ever seen the amount of germs on a dollar bill? In fact in most homes the Kitchen sink tests higher for Fecal matter than the toilet bowl does. Same goes for your toothbrush. You can't avoid germs, and at the same time you are allowing your daughter to miss out on things that make being three so much fun. As long as she washes her hands thoroughly she should be just fine. The suggestion that she change her clothes is also good advice. And it is true that exposure to some germs is actually healthy and strengthens the immune system.

I certainly hope you washed your hands before you typed that! I worry about the cooties too, but you have to get over it. Use Purell hand sanitizer and take that kid out for a Happy Meal! Chuck E Cheese has an area for little kids that is super cool and you can play ski ball! Go for it and have fun.

Just wait until they kiss a frog or put a handful of dirt in their underwear! Talk about germ infestation. When your child is school aged you'll have stroke when you find out one of their classmates has lice, giardia, or hepatitis!! Get your xanax prescription ready.

Take a deep breath and go for it. You have to go once and see what it's like. If there has been no contact with flesh eating bacteria then you'll be okay. I kid because you sound just like me! I was worried to take my kids to the lake because there are ducks and swans there...hello? Bird flu? Am I the only one that reads the newspaper?

I can truly understand your worries. The second I walk into my house I make a DASH to the bathroom & wash my hands before touching ANYTHING! I think, despite the germs,Chuckie Cheese is a bit too much for a toddler (I went once & my son was too overwhelmed).

I have an issue w/ germs too only b/c we're the ones who end up staying up all night & all day taking care of our little ones when they get sick & I just hate seeing my son feeling so badly.

So, I have simply "trained" him to not touch his face, rub his eyes unless he wipes his hands clean first. I've been very consistent w/ him to the point that even at his very own 2nd birthday party, he "yelled" at our guests and said, "oooooh, you dropped it, pick it up, it's dirty, don't eat it" (potato chips on the floor). It's all in how we approach it... of course, we don't want to raise germaphobes, either but it's good to teach them about cleanliness, especially when outside.

BUT certain things just can't be avoided! They're gonna have to play & get dirty sometime!

Good luck!

Be real there are germs everywhere you go. I'm sure you take your child to the mall right? Think of all the germs there or even daycare germ infested. Don't deprive your child of the things that kids should be doing. Take prevenative mesures bring antibacterial wipes and hand sanitizers and when you bring your child home stick them in the bathtub.

I'm sure they are, but so is the world. Some exposure to common germs actually helps the immune system. Some experts think children might be having more allergies these days because the modern home is so clean! If you're worried, bring some hand sanitizer or wipes and clean them up after. They'll be okay. And think of how much fun they have. Especially the playground part; all things considered, I think it's better for them to get to meet and play with new kids and get the exercise in the playground than to stay away.

hey you know what we've recently moved to the US say 6 months back my daughter has been exposed to almost all parts of the world she's not yet 2, 7 countries millions of places, believe me nothing will happen your kid will only develop immunity, the tolerance that kids have we as adults don't , believe me chucke cheese or a play ground thats where they are supposed to be thats their age to play and learn not to lock them up at home and make your kid sick. let them be free let them live their life they are kids they are free birds let them get fresh air, i take my kid everywhere but she just goes and plays there doesn't eat any of the crap once done i wash her hands change her clothes and believe me till date she's never fallen sick, she plays with all the toys at the doctors place she goes to the playgrounds plays with all sorts of kids you can't stop them i never do that because i feel thats the begining when we start introducing them to discrimination, don't sweat your home must be having millions of germs, day care has so many so let them grow between them instead of protecting her she'll be fine....all the best

Kids should have fun and be exposed to germs-it's great for their immune system. If your child is not immune-compromised and eats a healthy diet-they are fine. My son only gets sick when he plays with his cousins at their house-they don't eat that great and spend 90% of their time in daycare. Other than that, I take him to public playgrounds so he can burn some energy and have a great time.
Oh, I've never taken him to McDonalds or Chuckie Cheese though-we don't eat that crap obviously!

I am sure that there are a lot of parents out there thinking the same way as you... but my guess is.... must be your first child huh? I was like that at one point.... i realize, how else are they going to learn to get along with other kids their age and learn interaction with others..... so i know there are germs out there but you can never be too careful... i dont know about you but this is my personal opinion, the more cauious i am, the more my son get sick.... it dont make much sense but then again, it does.... something to ponder.......

No your not you can add me to the list, I absolutely refuse to let my son play in any kind of ball pit, I once received an e-mail that talked about a toddler dying from receiving a prick of a needle that contained heroin, and when the cleaned out the ball pit there was more then one needle found, along with a lot of other discus ting things, so no you are not the only parent out there.
