I remember one year there was a "fad "of winter coats being made of recycled plastic bottles. The material resembled brushed cotton or very fine velour. You can also make bird feeders from cutting a 1 liter plastic pop bottle in half, decorating it and filling it up with bird seed. I'm drawing a blank now, sorry.

Paper mache is a fun thing to do. One could make change banks. Piñata, you can add more then one together and cut them in twos, threes. Once the paper dries it will be hard so even a dry flower vase. Book ends.
All I can think of at the moment, what a fun project to do!
