My seven-month-old son is ready to begin trying different meats, but we don't have a food processor to puree it with.
How do I prepare meat for his consumption without one?

(Note: I haven't found any jars of prepared baby food at the store that contain just meat; I've only found things like casserole, which he isn't ready for just yet.)

Boil the meat, chicken, etc in lots of water. Then use that water to add liquid to the chopped meat which you put in the blender. You can add herbs if the baby likes them, but don't add salt, as Baby's kidneys don't need the extra strain. You can do a whole chicken, roast, or whatever, then freeze the meat in empty ice cube trays. When the meat freezes, pop it out and put the cubes into a zipper freezer bag.Take out as many cubes as your baby needs for a meal, add some veggies and fruits prepared in the same way, and you've got good tasting and healthy food for the little guy w/out paying lots for those little jars!
Way to go Mom, for asking this question and your baby is adorable!

How To Puree Meat

2016-11-12 06:58:16 · answer #2 · answered by ? 4 · 0 0

you could:

bowl the chicken.

mash apart the hamburger before and during cooking

my other suggestion is to buy Gerber foods.
depending on the size of his appetite.

stage 2 you could buy what is called "simple recipes"
i know one flavor is apples and chicken-that was my picky baby's favorite.

or stage 3-vegetable beef or lasagna with meat sauce.

there are many flavors of Gerber foods, but one thing to keep in mind:
I have found that pureed, Jarred baby food, etc... are best digested with fruits: like applesauce or banana.
that way it is not so hard on the tiny tummy.

good luck and be creative they make the best meals!!!

p.s. if you lived closer i would give you my little one for real cheap. my youngest is now on table food and no longer uses it.

I actually boil it down like whole chicken and chop it up very fine.
I loved to do this, use the broth as a base for other items too.
He never liked anything besides Ham and Chicken.
I used CAN meats, they are spreads and it helped at first.

Use your fingers - my wife does the same when she is not in the mood for dirtying the food processor. And make sure you cook the meat very well, that helps to break it down easyer and better.

You can buy one of those hand held "wands" or "boat motor" as Emeril calls it. But you might as well just buy a food processor. They aren't that expensive. Unless you have a blender...there is a puree setting.

You could use a meat grinder, but a blender is best.
