was there a special edition model too? did they all come with 4.7 liter. what does the special edition model consist of?

The 2002 Jeep Grande Cherokee that came with the 4.7L V8 was
Laredo
Limited and
Sport (2002 to 2003
Special Edition (2002 to 2004) only diffence was the front grill same standard features as the Limited.
&
Overlander (2002 to 2004)
The person above is actually incorrect on the model year of the Jeep Grande Cherokee (Limited) with the 5.9L V8. This Jeep only came out in 1998.

Only the plain one came without the 4.7. The Overlands, Laredo's, Limited's, et al are all just trim and wheel packages, and have the 4.7 standard. As an option, you could get a 5.7, and a COUPLE had a 5.9 (0-60 in 6.8 seconds!!!).

All were available with a V8 engine. Just the special edition model says special edition on it, and costs you a few grand more.
