I've developed a big tolerance to Temazepam (Restoril.) My doctor won't give me a larger dose saying it's dangerous. I have no argument with him.

But can I get back to normal if I don't take any for a long time?

And what about opiates.

Maybe you should try working to solve your problems instead of trying to talk your doctor into upping your BZP dosage. Or maybe you could just switch to a different BZP like valium if you can't cope. I suppose that's Bush's fault too... LMAO

yes, i think you can go back to having a low tolerance if you stay off the drug for an extended period of time.. right now there is a buildup of it in your system, in your cells, which needs to be released.. this could take some time to detox, but i believe it will work (i've encountered the same problem with some painkillers, and also marijuana and alcohol).. when i was working in a nightclub i was drinking 3 nights a week pretty heavily, and not exactly feeling the effects.. when i stopped working there i didn't have a drink for several months.. now i'm back to being a lightweight. i think opiates will be the same (i was on codeine meds and had this problem)

ya.. you will lose your tolerance to both if u dont take them for a few weeks. you will never get back to how it was when u first took them, but after 2 weeks of not taking them they should work well again. stopping temazepam, you'll get a little paranoid lol... thats how i got, i just slept with a knife for a week lol

opiates are the same.. 2-3 weeks and they will work well again.. even one week and they will work better, but 2-3 and they will work much better. expect liquidy poop for a week from stopping opiates.

Most drug tolerance subsides when you abstain from the offending drug, but resuming use may lead to a more rapid build up of tolerance. Many physicians choose to manage this phenomenon with two related drugs that can be interchanged every few months to try to stay ahead of the patients tolerance. Good luck.

You can get back to normal after a while but coming off it might make you feel terrible. Be careful!
