To quote Scott Cunningham "There is not, and can never be, one "pure" or "true" or "genuine" form of wicca". You need to find your own path. If 100 Wiccans (or witches) answered you here you would get 100 different answers. I will venture a guess that you are solitary because if you were coven based you would already be receiving some sort of training. I would like to recommend "Wicca, a Guide for the Solitary Practitioner" by Scott Cunningham. That may get you started. From there you might go on to some of the suggested reading. My path is Pecti-Witan (aka a sort of Hedge Witch, not Wiccan). In my beliefs there is little emphasis put on ritual and worship, but more on divination, herb magick, gemstone magick and natural (earth) magick. By the way, Picts have more than one goddess & god though there are 2 primary.
Everyone must find their own path. As far as I know there is only one hardfast rule and that is 'an it harm none, do as thou wilt.
Good luck with your quest.

I am a Solitary Practicing Witch, and I know the feeling you have.. If you truly have found your path you will know it in your heart, and feel very grounded.
I from the beginning, started with Scott Cunningham's "WICCA, Guide to the Solitary Practioner" and then moved directly on to Living Wicca - A Further Guide to the Solitary Practitioner," and like others have said here in this forum, Other than adhering to The Wiccan Rede, Each one of us interprets things differently, sees the world thru their own eyes, draws their own conclusions, So thier is no set way of "being Wiccan" - It all lies in the heart of each respective witch, the influence the Goddess and God have on her/him.
But the one thing I can recommend for sure, IS READ, READ, READ !!!, Don't trust alot the crap on the internet....The books that have been suggested by others here in this posting - Margot Adler, Starhawk are all great things to read, you get to see thru reading , different viewpoints on and about Wicca, by each author.
eventually you will develop into your own beliefs and views, and feel comfortable in your own skin, and Be a Wiccan just like Me.....
Just always follow the Rede.......
Blessed be,
Raven

This is not something that can be explained fully in an online forum such as this.
Go to Amazon.com or any bookstore and get a couple books by Scott Cunningham and that would be a good beginning. Once you're done with those, get others by other authors and keep reading.
There is NO absolute way to practice. There are many different traditions and many different views and what not. Anyone that tells you that their way is the only right way, is on a high horse.

A true wiccan cannot tell you how to invoke the Goddess and the God, espescially not in here.
There are many solitary witches and pagans who have their own way of invoking Deity, but a true wiccan can only give information about true wiccan practices to another initiate.
It's a good idea to onlt talk about basic stuff in here, so as not to upset certain people of other faiths.
Feel free to e-mail me, we can discuss all that I am allowed to discuss with you.

Oh dear.
You are much better off going to a bookstore and buying books. Though there is one course I like, it's an online course (I think the site is wiccacourse.uk). While you're right to be looking for help, Yahoo Answers is not going to be your best source. I'm surprised you haven't gotten more mean answers, quite frankly.
The bottom line is Wicca is personal to each practitioner. See if you can find some Wiccans in your area (look for a Unitarian church - some attend that as a way to get out and meet others), and discuss your paths with them. Personal one-on-one assistance, in REAL time with a LIVE person, will help you more than we can.
Bright blessings!

That's because there are many different ways to practice Wicca and different pantheons to work with... get yourself a book for the Solitary Practioner... there are a lot of them on the market that will take you through your "year and a day" to study. Don't go out and buy all the ritual tools yet, just get them as you need... things can get expensive if you get overeager (like I did) and then decide you're not into it or it's an item you really don't need.
Also read books on the origins of it and Margot Adler's book "Drawing Down the Moon" is interesting. Research whatever pantheons you're most interested in working with (IF any) and so on... take your time, learn well... power can backfire if you misuse it.

Well, I'm not a "true Wiccan" because I'm not an initiate of any of the British Traditional Wicca traditions. I *am* a Witch with initiations in two different non-BTW Traditions of the Craft, and a hedge-witch (25 years, 20 as a Priestess).
My hubby is Wiccan (an initiate in one of the BTW Traditions) and I know he doesn't mind getting emails. I don't know how much he can tell you about the Tradition he was initiated into, as some of that stuff is oath-bound to secrecy, but either one of us can tell you general things.
Feel free to email either one of us. Click on my profile to access my email:

My hubby (Black Dragon) has his email enabled on his profile page, too:

If by "wicca" you mean witchcraft in it's various types, there are good books and bad books out there. Here are some good ones:
* Adler, Margot, Drawing Down the Moon.
* Farrar, Janet and Stewart, What Witches Do.
* Starhawk, The Spiral Dance.
* Matthews, Caitlin and John, The Western Way, Vol. I: The Native Tradition.
* Valiente, Doreen, Witchcraft for Tomorrow.
* Weinstein, Marion, Positive Magic.

There are a few hundred ways of being wiccan and even more of being pagan.
Read Margot Adler's -Drawing Down the Moon-, it's a solid overview of the whole movement, at least to the time of the latest edition. Probably the single most important book to read if you're going to participate and it will help you understand the different approaches.

I think you means "Horned God" ;)
Anyway, as far as researching Wicca goes, I would avoid websites. They will not usually provide the direct information you are seeking. Many printed books are bad too, but there are some good ones that will give you exactly the answers you are looking for. Try books by Raymond Buckland and Scott Cunningham. At all costs, avoid any of the "teen witch" or "teen magick" books. They are hilariously woeful.
My personal recommendation would be "Wicca For Life" by Buckland. He also has an excellent book on interdimensional communication, "Buckland's Book of Spirit Communications."
Try those, and welcome to the path. )O(

Wicca is not a concrete religion, I am not saying that it is not valid becuase I am wiccan. What I am saying is that wicca does not have any rules about how a person should practice. In wicca you are free to practice as you will as long as you are not harming anyone. "an ye harm none, do what ye will" My best advice is to learn all you can and fallow what is in your heart. Do what is right to you.
However if you want a site that can really help you learn, http://www.wiccaforums.com is a great one. They have a lot of great information and a lot of helpfull people
