I was looking at other things on the Internet and came across yahoo answers. I wasn’t planning on answering this question but it just popped out at me and screamed my name. Nana gave you good advice as did Jennifer Z (the only two that have thus far responded.) If want additional information I have two (what I believe to be) excellent recommendations. Do you use “newsgroups?” If you do then go to “rec.food.preserving” where others share their experiences and opinions. Many of these people are serious about persevering food and have prepared whole animals as you are doing. Another good site is in Yahoo! Groups and is called Foodsaver. Here is their link. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/FoodSaver/ I have used both sites to research information for my dear mother. You will get all the information you can possibly think of on this subject.

Go to QVC.com and take a look at the one they have. I've had mine for several years and it works great. Really does keep food fresh. You can buy the replacement bags at Wal-Mart on rolls to save money (you cut them to the size you want). It's really simple to work, ...not a lot of bells and whistles.
