Am I really the only one who's sick and tired of religous people and atheists fighting all the time??
Why in the world can't we just accept each other's differences, and move on? We will never agree on this subject - why do we keep bashing each other?

I don't mind the discussions - I love to discuss religion, and exchange point of views, as I believe that's the only way to learn and understand each other.
It's the bashing, being rude, and so very obvious hatred, I'm talking about. I think it's unbelievable how much someone can hate another human being because of their religion, or lack there of.

One word: RESPECT!
People want to feel superior so they continually feel the need to make others look bad.
To accept others opinions would prove to them that there is the possibility they could be wrong in their belief system. People do not want to be proved wrong, they want to be right, period.
If someone is secure in their opinion, they have no need to bash others peoples opinions and beliefs.

Agree with you. I think this forum should be used for like-minded people to discuss and share ideas for which they stand on common ground. But it should also be used for people with different beliefs to exchange ideas amongst each other and ask/answer questions of opposing viewpoints (so long as it is not mocking or rude). This can be done in a civil and rational manner; there really is no need for name calling or bashing of religious preferences. I guess some people just get heated when others say something that doesn't jive with how they feel. It's perfectly normal, but I hope people will try a little harder to keep a cool head.

Because noone wants to do this in real life in this kind of group. So it is done here. Which is good. Because the Muslims and Christians would probably probably start a freaking crusade and a jihad against all the atheists, and the atheists would be like, fine. Lets scrap. And then no one would eat the delicious finger sammiches i laid out for the meeting. Stop whining about people arguing. Just stay outof those questions, cuz it aint hard to tell which ones they are. Honestly, who can't deal with it? Are you that thin skinned? Oh, by the way, MY RELIGION IS SUPERIOR TO ANY OF YOURS! BOOYAH! I WIN!

Non-believers of what? Everyone is a non-believer. You're a non-believer when it comes to Islam, I'm a non-believer when it comes to Christianity. Did you mean to say atheists? I'm an atheist and I have never said or thought that Christians don't enjoy their lives, I don't know why you think that. "we give parties( non-alcoholic)" You're 100% sure that over 2 billion Christians don't supply alcohol at parties? How do you know that? "We just choose just to enjoy it on a HIGHER LEVEL than non-believers" What's that supposed to mean? Christians enjoy parties more than other people? Thanks for the laugh.

Agree. I think this forum could be used for questions that are more relevant to people's religious questions or spiritual needs. What is really sad is when people come here sharing serious problems in their life and see how some just answer "God doesn't exist he cant help you" or "You will burn in hell".
I hope we could all learn to distinguish the serious questions from what's not and answer accordingly.

I guess that they are not fighting; they are disputing to see the truth more clearly. They will cease the dispute, when their confrontation causes the ignition of the light of truth.
Perhaps you are right, acceptance of each other's differences is better, and we all will become mature in love, cooperation and progress. Only God can tell exactly what is the absolute truth.

Yes; I'm weary of it. I'm going on a two week vacation & look forward to some peace & quiet.
It's hard to imagine the Middle East would be more peaceful than YA's "Religion & Spirituality" forum, but it gets soo draining!

Totally. The problem is, no matter how good my intentions are when I start the day, I will come across a question that intrigues me or makes me laugh - or pisses me off. And then I just can't help myself.
I do refrain from asking stupid questions though.

I'm only tired of discussion once it falls outside the boundaries of dignity and logic.
Sadly, this happens quite often in debates on religion.
