I remember when I first found out that God's name, Jehovah, had been taken out of the Hebrew Scriptures nearly 7000 times, I was so indignant at the translators who had done that! How confusing the Bible can be when we don't know God's name! That has helped people to be able to even give the thought of the trinity a second glance. If you know God by his name, then you also know that Jesus is his Son, and not God. Satan is still laughing at that deception and how many people are fooled!
The Bible so obviously teaches that God,Jehovah, is the Father and Jesus is his Son.
Just like the Jesus said at John 17:3: "This means everlasting life, their taking in knowledge of you, the only true God, and of the one whom you sent forth, Jesus Christ." it is vital that we take in accurate knowledge of them and learn the truth of who they are and what their proper place in our worship is.
John 4: 23 & 24 says : Nevertheless, the hour is coming, and it is now, when the true worshipers will worship the Father with spirit and truth, for, indeed, the Father is looking for suchlike ones to worship him. 24 God is a Spirit, and those worshiping him must worship with spirit and truth.”
So the truth is essential for true worship, and for our worship to be acceptable to God.
If you take the following Scripture and twist it like they have for the trinity teaching, you would have to believe that we are God also, because it says that we are one with them...
John 17: 20-22 "I make request, not concerning these only, but also concerning those putting faith in me through their word; 21 in order that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in union with me and I am in union with you, that they also may be in union with us, in order that the world may believe that you sent me forth. 22 Also, I have given them the glory that you have given me, in order that they may be one just as we are one.'
So, if we are one, just as Jesus is one with God, then are we God too? Well, of course not. But we are of one thought and purpose, just as Jesus and his Father are in union of thought and purpose. Never did God intend for us to think that his Son was equal with him, and never did Jesus intend for anyone to think that he was God. What a huge injustice was created when God's name was taken out of the Scriptures!
Aklthrough the Bible you read of the imprtance of God's name and how he will eventually make sure that everyone knows who he is!
Ezekiel 38:23: "And I shall certainly magnify myself and sanctify myself and make myself known before the eyes of many nations; and they will have to know that I am Jehovah.’
So many people pray the prayer given as an example of the things to pray about at Matthew 6:9 , and yet don't even know that they are praying that God's NAME, be honored and sanctified because they don't know God's name.
Matthew 6:9: "“YOU must pray, then, this way:
“‘Our Father in the heavens, let your name be sanctified."
Psalms 83:18: "That people may know that you, whose name is JEHOVAH, You alone are the Most High over all the earth."

What about this passage, then:
5 Thomas said to him, Lord, we don't know where you are going, so how can we know the way?
6 Jesus answered, I am the way and the truth and the life. No-one comes to the Father except through me.
7 If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.
8 Philip said, Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.
9 Jesus answered: Don't you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, 'Show us the Father'?
10 Don't you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you are not just my own. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work.
11 Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the miracles themselves.
~John 14 (NIV)

Randy,
why does seeing Jesus the same as seeing God?
Is it because Jesus is God?
NO.
The footnote to John 1:1 in my NAB states that God(2) is a quality or an attribute and NOT an indentification.
This means John is telling us that Jesus is like God, has the same qualities of God
This agrees with Hebrews 1:3 which says Jesus is
(NASB)
3 And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature
(NIV)
3 The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of his being,
Jesus radiates God's glory, he is a representation of his being / nature.
(NASB)
2 Cor 4:4in whose case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving so that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
If we believe Jesus is more than the image of God, then we are being blinded by Satan, the god of this world.

I believe that there is no trinity, I believe god is separate from Jesus 2 separate beings they have 2 individual bodies. The trinity thinks that the 3 in one beings are equal in power, but look at John1:32-34- it reads: "John also bore witness, saying: "i viewed the spirit coming down as a dove out of heaven, and it remained upon him.33: Even i did not know him, but the very one who sent me to baptize in water said to me,'Whoever it is upon whom you see the spirit coming down and remaining, this is the one that baptizes in holy spirit.'34: And i have seen [it], and I have borne witness that this one is the son of God." Now reading that how can God be in two places at once, either hes in heaven or on the earth.and also here is proof that Jesus is NOT equal to God Philippians 2:6" Who although he was existing in God's form, gave no consideration a seizure, namely, that he should be equal to God. so here it is saying that Jesus never thought of even being equal to God in anyway, because he knew that he wasn't. And when Jesus was on earth when he preached to people he ALWAYS gave all the credit to his father in the heavens, because the counsel that he gave people on earth was from his father not himself. So there is your proof that the trinity is really false. And at John 1:18 it states: "No man has seen God at any time; the onlybegotten god who is in the bosom [position] with the father is the one that has explained him."

Jehovah's Witnesses are Christians; they teach that Christ was and is divine and of the same nature as God.
Jehovah's Witnesses teach that no salvation occurs without Christ, that accepting Christ's sacrifice is a requirement for true worship, that every prayer must acknowledge Christ, that Christ is the King of God's Kingdom, that Christ is the head of the Christian congregation, that Christ is immortal and above every creature, even that Christ was the 'master worker' in creating the universe!
Jehovah's Witnesses love and respect and honor Christ. However, Jehovah's Witnesses believe that the Scriptures quite plainly demonstrate that Jesus and the Almighty are separate distinct persons, and the Almighty created Jesus as His firstborn son.
(Colossians 1:15) the firstborn of all creation
(Mark 10:18) Jesus said to him: 'Why do you call me good? Nobody is good, except one, God.
(Revelation 3:14) the Amen says, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation by God
(Philippians 2:5-6) Christ Jesus, who, although he was existing in God's form, gave no consideration to a seizure, namely, that he should be equal to God
(John 8:42) Neither have I come of my own initiative at all, but that One sent me forth
(John 12:49) I have not spoken out of my own impulse, but the Father himself who sent me has given me a commandment as to what to tell and what to speak
(John 14:28) I am going my way to the Father, because the Father is greater than I am
(1 Corinthians 15:28) But when all things will have been subjected to him, then the Son himself will also subject himself to the One who subjected all things to him
(Matthew 20:23) this sitting down at my right hand and at my left is not mine to give, but it belongs to those for whom it has been prepared by my Father
(1 Corinthians 11:3) I want you to know that the head of every man is the Christ; ...in turn the head of the Christ is God
(John 20:17) I am ascending to my Father and your Father and to my God and your God.
(Deuteronomy 6:4) Jehovah our God is one Jehovah
(1 Corinthians 8:4-6) There is no God but one. For even though there are those who are called "gods," whether in heaven or on earth, just as there are many "gods" and many "lords," there is actually to us one God the Father, out of whom all things are, and we for him
Thanks again for an opportunity to share what the bible actually says about the distinct persons of Jesus Christ the Son and Jehovah God the Father!

If it's not true, then those Christians have a philosophical conundrum to deal with.
The existence of god and Jesus (and potentially the holy ghost if you consider that separate) constitutes three deities, without the trinity.
The basis of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam is there is only one god.

When Christ prayed to the Father in Gethsemane, was he praying to himself or was he praying to someone else? I find the trinity confusing.

No. I still believe in the Trinity.
Just like I can believe a person can be a Father,Son,Brother, Grandson and all the rest but still be one. That is not a hard concept to believe either.
Does that convince you? Even if you are not, it does not matter in the end. There a lot things I trust in that I cannot explain - That is what Faith is all about.
