I own a 1994 Toyota Corolla. I bought it used 2 1/2 years ago with 125,000 miles on it. Since then I have put more than 70,000 miles on it without so much as a hiccup. I regularly get 38 miles per gallon and have gotten as many as 43 (it has a 1.6 liter engine and 5-speed manual transmission). There is a lot of room under the hood to work and I have found maintaining it to be easier than maintaining comparable Ford or GM vehicles. It is extremely reliable, has never left me stranded, and the only work I have had to do to it has been preventive or preemptive maintenance on parts due for replacement per the manufacturer's recommendations. In my opinion, the Corolla is the best car out there for the money; I bought mine for $2,300.

You can purchase a car that is maybe last years model or the year beofre which has very low mileage and still a full warranty at the time of purchase. This car will still be just like new, but will not lose thousands of dollars in value the second you drive it off of the lot. This way you pay less and get the best of both worlds so to speak. Another thing is you can find someone you know that knows about cars preferrable a mechanic to look at the car before you buy it. You can also make sure you are not getting ripped off by checking what it is worh in the Kelly Blue Book online. Finally, you can run a vehicle history before to be positive the car has not been in any accidents before and simply repainted.

Just make sure that you can get a history of the car. Many cars that were submerged in salt water during Hurricanes Katrina and Rita are being sold at excellant prices. You DON"T want any of these vehicles. If they're not completely rusting out, then they'll have electrical problems, big time. Best of luck to you.

Probably the best used car value would be a BMW 3-series. You can get a 2001-2002 325 w/< 50,000 miles for < $18,000. That's about 50% off of new but at 50K miles, the car is only just getting broken in. A well-cared-for 3-series will go 200K easily; plus you get to ride in style.

It depends. What kind of car are you looking for? Just to get you from point A to point B?
Do you want to get any utility out of it? Do you live in an area that would require you to have 4x4? Are you conscious about the environment? What can you afford?
I'd check with consumer review and or several car magazines and check for vehicle satisfaction history.
Good luck!

Yon need to decide what you want first, ie is it for family, run around or traversing the country. Are you going to tow with it, No point in buying to big or small if money an issue,
You should be asking whats the best medium/ small car as a run around etc.
If you live up a 1 mile off road drive way?
Best fit for purpose.??

check with Kelly Blue Book website, and the N.A.D.A. Website. They have a wealth of information regarding these sort of statistics. The answers may not coincide with your taste in cars, but your curiosity will be satisfied.
Once you find what you need, look in the AutoTrader.com website and do a search by zip code.
