Why do the guys who are not attractive physically and come with a lot of baggage seem to be rude and inconsiderate to their mates who are attractive and wouldn't have a problem getting someone else, have good jobs, etc. Is it because actually their self-esteem is low and they don't know why you are with them in the first place?

It's really no more complicated than accepting the simple fact that some people are not nice. Good looking people, ugly people, people with great jobs, and unemployed slackers alike. You can't necessarily assume that their rudeness is the result of their current situation.

well, Stell, I think you know the answer already. They feel inferior because they lack beauty and are an economic drain, so they try to assert a sort of superiority by putting the other down.
That is really a lousy type of relationship to stay in. So figure out if the lack of employment and ambition factor in that ugly guy is likely to be long term. If so, the poor home life will also be long term.
So if that is your analysis, split. It is hard, but it gives you more time to sort out a good relationship. Life is a one way trip, so do not waste time hoping, spend time working on its solutions.

Yep. Why do the women hook up with this type of guy? Is it a character flaw on her part? Does he have low self esteem and doesn't think she can do any better? There's a mate for everyone, even idiots, both male and female.

I've had the same problem. When you feel like **** about yourself - it's impossible to be respectful of others. This guy feels like **** about himself. Sticking with him will only compromise yourself. Chuck him to the curb with the rest of the trash out there.
Someday, he'll value his friendships, partners and people in general more than he does now. When he's alone and wondering why.
Maybe he'll begin to sort through his luggage then :-)

Secretly they believe that they are unworthy of this person and so go about proving themselves right by being nasty. Then when their partner gets fed up and eventually leaves, they can tell themselves that they were right all along.
When in fact they want someone to stay and put up with their bull, because no one really wants to believe that they are unlovable.

i think b/c they are inexperienced and stupid and dont know they have a good thing, probably the best that could ever happen to them.
