Why does Ctrl + V mean paste?
My guess that the X and V were selected for cut and paste not because they stood for something but because they are on either side of the C. Ctrl + C means copy. I think that was chosen and the X and V were arbitrarily given their meanings because it places all of the commands right there under the left hand and makes it easier to quickly use these shortcuts.

It doesn't stand for anything, it was probably chosen from Ctrl C being Copy, and then the buttons on either side of that will Cut (Ctrl+X) or paste (Ctrl+V).
They are more or less used also because they are close to the Ctrl key and easy to use.

It doesn't mean anything.
They could have used CTRL+S or CTRL+P, or shift+X or Shift+A.
The Cut, copy, and paste keys are grouped together on the left hand side of the keyboard. It has become the standard to Use Ctrl+X to cut ever since.

I don't think X stands for some thing, I think it was used in the sequence of Z, C and V. because the are near form the CTRL key and because the sequence it self with the letters on the keyboard and the sequence of orders UNDO, CUT, COPY, PASTE

They used "X" on the keyboard, because it was in the same area as "C" (copy) and "V" (paste), so all three keys are next to each other and near the left ctrl key so you can use one hand.
