There are a few comments about Mormons believing something like that. As a Mormon, I can share what I know.

There are indeed stories of other people/tribes seeing Jesus found in scripture and throughout history. I believe that these accounts are true.

Mormons believe that after Jesus' ministry, death, and resurection in Jerusalem, that He visited His "other sheep" as He prophesied he would in the New Testament (John 10:16).

Among those He visited were those living in the American continent. While among them he taught that they were the sheep he spoke of in Jerusalem. "And verily I say unto you, that ye are they of whom I said: Other sheep I have which are not of this fold; them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd."

Later, Jesus taught, "But now I ago unto the Father, and also to show myself unto the lost tribes of Israel, for they are not lost unto the Father, for he knoweth whither he hath taken them."

Following these visits, as far as we know, He ascended to heaven as mentioned in the New Testament.

Why don't we have more stories of these visitations then? Well, over centuries, people began to apostatize and become wicked. Eventually, religious truth was lost from these people and spiritual darkness ensued. Amos, of the Old Testament, taught that this would occur; that there would come a time of famine, not of food and water but of the word of God. Men would search everywhere to find it, but would not find it anywhere (Amos 8:11-12).

In spite of a general apostacy, I believe there are still remnants of such visitations that can be found by any serious seeker. The mesoamerican people have a story of a bird like being named Quetzalcoatl who was born of a virgin mother and who descended from the sky. I also think it is interesting that the Native American Indians welcomed Columbus and his men so freely. They were even worshipped as gods - bearded, white, gods. There are accounts from various lands, and if I find them I will add an addendum.

Mormons also believe that one day we will have accurate accounts of when Jesus visited His "other tribes", and that these teachings will be added among those we already have.

"And it shall come to pass that the Jews shall have the words of the Nephites (people of the ancient American continent), and the Nephites shall have the words of the Jews (the Bible); and the Nephites and the Jews shall have the words of the lost tribes of Israel; and the lost tribes of Israel shall have the words of the Nephites and the Jews (2 Nephi 13:29).

Very good question. I hope this, and the links below, help.

Yes. There was a Tribe in The Pacific North West that was reached by Missionaries. When they told the story of Christ they knew it already, all they didn't know was His Name.

More recently, in several Islamic Countries, Muslims are having Dreams of Jesus coming to them and telling them that He is LORD, and for them to get Saved.

I will just answer your question with this bible verse, and you can make up your own mind...

Matthew 24: 23-27: "“Then if anyone says to YOU, ‘Look! Here is the Christ,’ or, ‘There!’ do not believe it. 24 For false Christs and false prophets will arise and will give great signs and wonders so as to mislead, if possible, even the chosen ones. 25 Look! I have forewarned YOU. 26 Therefore, if people say to YOU, ‘Look! He is in the wilderness,’ do not go out; ‘Look! He is in the inner chambers,’ do not believe it."

Yes, and the people are either drunk, high, in an altered state of consciousness, or hallucinating.
