Do a web search. You can't describe two relgions that are thousands of years old and spread over such a vast amount of space in this type of forum.

The Buddha is only a higher power in that he has realized and understood the nature of the mind. The Buddha himself stated you should “Believe nothing, no matter where you read it, or who said it, no matter if I have said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense.” What better place to start? I have lived for 30 years rejecting the Christian beliefs I was raised with, and otherwise having no religion. The Buddha was a teacher. He taught what he had self realized. These are basic profound understandings of our nature. The Buddha never allowed himself to be called a god or allowing people to believe he had supernatural powers. We respect the Buddha for the teachings, but he was just a man. His teachings are well documented and well preserved. The sacred texts of Buddhism though are in your heart. You will know if it is right or not. I recommend you google Ajahn Brahm. He is a kind and wonderful teacher available online. He has many talks. From there I believe you will get a good understanding of what it's all about. Then you can branch out and learn from others. I have had depression for more than two decades and been delusional. Ajahn Brahm helped me realize truth in me and I have for the first time been without depression or delusion and felt JOY! I believe you will find discipline of understanding and discipline of the mind with Ajahn Brahm and Buddhism. Good luck!

Confucianism follows the teachings of Confucius and were basically traditional family values and traditional Chinese culture.

Buddhism follows the teachings of Buddha and are basically finding a way to inner peace which is unconnected to the outside world.
