About 10 years ago I dated one briefly. I suppose some of his beliefs were okay but he had to pay to be trained. He had to work to off-set the cost of his training. He had accumulated a bill for thousands of dollars. What I thought was a bit odd was that he wanted to pay the money so he could continue his training. He felt that any knowledge that one gets for free wasn't fully appreciated.

I have always felt that religious teachings should be freely given and one should never charge for them. I thought his beliefs were mildly interesting but they had too much of a "cult" feel for me personally. Plus, I worship deities. I don't think he even believed in any deities.

I met someone who'd gotten briefly interested in it, but ended up getting really creeped out by some of the people he met who were involved with the group. Not saying in any way that all Scientologists are creepy, but that's just this guy's experience, as he related it to me. He said they were really nice people, but very insistent upon his further participation in Scientology, even after he rapidly began losing interest. He moved out of the area, and has never wanted to get involved Scientology again.

I don't have any close, personal Scientologist friends, if that's what you're asking. There IS a Scientology center about 20 minutes from my house, though.

If you're interested in Scientology, I have a ton of information on them. Check out some of my past answers (these are a few that were chosen as best):

Actually I don't know any at all. I don't even think that any of the people I know, know any scientologists. It hasn't caught on at all in my area. I think that its some sort of tax shelter for rich people if you want my honest opinion.

Then you should know that the religion was started due to a bet by L.Ron Hubbard that he could start a religion and get people to follow it.
