You don't join the military to make money. The pay itself is not a lot, although the other benefits make up for the relatively low pay.
If you are lucky and you score high on the ASVAB you might be able to get in a critical rating where they offer you an enlistment bonus, but if you only want to sign for 2 years you will not be eligible for those types of jobs. With only 2 years you will probably not get above E-2, maybe E-3 in rank.
Just to give you a reference point. When I got out of the Navy after 6 years I was an E-5, and I was making barely over $20,000 a year. My first year out of the Navy in an entry level position I made over $26,000, and I more doubled that in just a few years.

you can't join for only 2 years.. ALL first term commitments are for EIGHT years.
Shortest AD time is National Call to Service.. 15 month sof AD, which doesn't begin until aftre you finish Boot Camp and A school, followed by a mandatory minimum 24 months inthe reserves.
at 17, you must be a HS Graduate( NOT a GED holder) and you must have signe dpermission from all custodial parents.

Dont join the navy for money. Trust me, join because you want to. Stay in for the money. I am a submarine sailor and after a while it really gets worth it, but thats after a few years sea time.

They have alot of incentive pays but an E-1 makes about 1300 a month, plus whatever they give you for housing, food, etc. Then it goes up if you make rank. So anywhere from 1300-1400. Pay is the same in all branches.

If it's all about the money, don't join. There are easier ways to make some bucks. Plus if you already have that attitude and you haven't joined yet, I don't think the military is for you. Sorry.

Junior, it's not about the money. You can stay home, get two minimum wage jobs, and make more money and work fewer hours.
