I like the economy of visual language, but I'm not so sure about the rhythm of the scales, seems like a volumetric study using planes, is not mi kind of painting but it seems to be technically well done, I'd try to mix more the colours thou. Perhaps you could try to get to the last consequence with the realistic treatment of the eye, I've seen your other paintings and i know you can do it. I say this because the language has to be as clear as possible, and if you treat an element in a realistic full detail fashion, the rest should be equal or radical different. Just suggestions. Good luck.

Technically very sophisticated, but a lack of vigor. I would recommend doing several paintings -- not for show -- where you try NOT to make an image. Anything that emerges and you see a face, an object, or something from the real world...paint it out. Go for emotional reaction, not image. Other than recognizable objects, get everything else right: color harmony, application, emotional reaction, composition, etc. Then take what you learn and apply it to a still life, portrait or landscape.

Not crazy for "Dragon Eye" -- too much a departure from your style.

The style you display on the other subjects is quite exceptional!

Only one piece of advice on the other pieces:
Keep your portraits personal, in other words, the ones that are obviously celebrities look contrived and/or copied.

"Jim", "...Slow Turtle", and "Marc", man, they're good!
"Jim" looks like a friend of mine on the Western Slope. Give him a bagpipe, a kilt, and sporran, they'd be twins.

Fantastic!!!! I really liked it. My son saw it and he said cool. I thought your other paintings were beautiful. I do watercolors. My son is going to make me a web page. Mine aren't as good as yours. God bless and keep up the good work.
