My social worker yelled @ me for being late to a day program appointment & I cursed him out for it, & he had me put in the ER for the mental hospital. Was that necessary? If so, how? People curse me out ALL the time.

Let's back up a second. First you have a social worker, this implies things are not going as they are supposed to go for you. Second, people curse you out all the time, another thing that is not supposed to happened. You think it is OK to curse at other people, again not OK. And finally, the ER admitted you. So I suspect there is a lot more to the story the just you cursing out your social worker.
That said, you should only be hospitalized if you are a danger to yourself or others. So, i would think you social worker felt threatened. Or maybe he was concern that you were going to hurt yourself.

Then again, your social worker could just be an idiot. Ask him why he had you committed. Speak to his supervisor and review what happened. If it turns out it was his fault ask to change case managers.

If cursing someone out puts you in the mental hospital, I would have been hospitalized most of my life!! I think that your social worker was trying to make a point here...sounds like she may have a control/power issue.

Well, people DO "curse people out" all the time. However, not usually for trivial reasons. Being blamed for showing up late shouldn't give you a reason to give someone a piece of your mind. He might have thought you needed some anger management...aka mental hospitalization. Loosing your temper for being blamed late shouldn't fuel such anger.

Of course, I don't know the exact situation. I don't know if he was irrational about blaming you, so perhaps you DID have a reason. Why don't you ask your social worker about it? Just ask him calmly what his reason was for calling for your mental hospitalization.

Maybe when you curse you look terrible and scary and you shaking and it make someone feel like you about to pass out or have a nervous break down or have a heard attack. Just try to pay attention how you look when you go off. Maybe there was a reason you was in ER, not saying you are crazy or you really needed ER. I never heared of **** like that but hey maybe that someone just never been cursed out like that in their whole life.....LOL

Hmm....my boss curses me out all the time for being late and other things, does that mean he should be in the mental hospital???

They don't put him in, so I guess you shouldn't be either.

I personally wouldn't think so, but there is not enough information to really form an opinion. In other words...why do you have a social worker, have there been other times you may have lashed out that raised a concern? Good luck to you.

No, losing it once doesn't qualify you for a mental hospital. And people shouldn't be cursing you out. Hang in there, pal.

Sounds like there more to this story. Did the day program have anything to do with copping with a mental health issue? if so then yes it have been have just to do what he did. often time when people get angry they say things that mean to or realize what they are saying.

not usually. I think it would depend on what was said if there were any threats of violence or a history of violence. I am sure there is a complex background here just because of the mention of a social worker. so I couldnt tell you if it was necessary in this case or not.
