With the invention of alcohol, men started seeing things in the DT's and figured since alcohol was harmless it had to be angels and divine beings. When they figured out how to write they wrote the delusions down.

At the end of the day one feels like returning to his own place that is his house where from he commenced his journey. Even if one goes on world tour after some time feels like returning.
Similarly when man started thinking where from he had come first answer is from mothers womb. Even to that place where from he had come, spirituality starts. Again another question is where he will go? Naturally not to back to his mothers womb since she might have already left the planet. The place from where he had started and the destination he had to reach should be the same. When people started probing onto this issue, naturally God and Spirituality will come in. The pursuit of the spirit is termed as Spirituality and the administrator for the movement of Spirits was given the name/status of God.

1) The humans have a characteristic that other animals don't have. The greed. One life is not enough for them.
2) The kings and leaders needed a way to control the masses , to do according their will. So the GOD was invented to fool the people and distract them from their real problems. Read the Exodus, leviticus etc What is your opinion ? Are those commands from god ? Of course not. Theocracy is just an illusion for the stupid.

Man realizes he is at the mercy of the elements, and needs a "protector" and "provider," and, later, someone to subdue his enemies. These are ideas he associates on a human level with his father. It's well documented that the earliest gods were "ancestors" - dead fathers. The typical religious conception of "God" is obviously a projection of the human idea of the father on to the cosmos. This idea is patent in all the books of the Abrahamic religions with which we in the West are so familiar. "God" is imagined as a stern, forboding, and yet loving being who protects and provides for those who obey him - and punishes those who don't.
I wouldn't reduce ALL spirituality to this single idea, but I think it accounts for much in orthodox religion.

I believe in a higher energy, call it God or Gods, if you like. I believe we are all a part of God, as we are all a part of each other, all of nature, etc. I believe that when we die, we're still a part of all the same "stuff". We've just changed our form.
I think I came to this after reading a few Taoist texts, practicing heart rhythm meditation, practicing zen meditation, talking to people of various belief systems, reading other random philosophical books, etc.

Divinity is the natural form of man's existence and all his spiritual excercises are only in the direction of finding divinity within himself. He will seek God, as long as breaths in this body. And he succeeds in his effort, he will keep coming back to earth.

I believe that every problem can be rationalized. For the ones that can't be, I believe that I don't know all the facts.
The concept of god was created to fill in the blanks that we don't understand. At one point, we called fire a god because we didn't understand it. Now a days, we call happiness and love god because we don't understand it.

i think the ans is quite simple...all of us need someone to look upto...to share our feelings, joys, sorrows n yes to look for guidance when lost...(lol..most of us turn to Him, to blame Him for some mishaps...) n someone who cn't let ur truth out.(well He can ..but not atleast directly) N last bt nvr the least...who's there 4 u life long..n to serve the above purposes...we have created n idol for ourselves, obviously concludin frm the miracles that we witness when there's no ray of hope...the omens that alert us b4 some drastic event....makes us believe in Him...everybody uses th imagination to put a face to this God..some blindly c them in the religious gods...some in few ppl...some in nature itslf....but...
ever wondered y they look up in the sky everytime they think of Him?...hmmm..worth pondering over
