Well i'm not being clamed by my dad anymore being that i'm 20, and i'm going to be 21 this sunday, that's what he says. If i remember right in total i was making $13,000 a year. i started in august of 06 but my job lasted in tell mid november of 06 wich i was making at the start of the job $7.00 an hour, but once i was left off i was making $8.00 an hour. I'm not in school just yet, by next month i will be, but i'm asking about that part is that if i file my taxes now, do i need to add that i'm going to be starting school. What i'm trying to say is if i do them right now lets say, and that i'm going to start school right after i filed them, dose that cause any problems for me in the future you know. Let's say like in 4-5 months from now that i get a letter from the IRS about that, whould that cause any problems for me? I'm just a guy that's going to do his taxes for the first time and i just need to know these things you know, you whould the same.

Before the end of Jan, you'll get a W-2 statement, listing your earnings and deductions. Go to the library and print out a 1040EZ - it sounds like you are a student and didn't make a great deal of money. It's a one-pager and should take about thirty minutes to file.

You can file up to April 15 for 2006.

You can read more at http://www.irs.gov

If you made under $52,000 you can go to http://irs.gov and click the Free File link. There will be a list of free programs that will allow you to free e-file and any of those programs will walk you through the process and fill the forms out for you. You need your W2 and if you made more than $10 in interest from a savings account, you'll need a form from them too that states how much you made. Sounds like your dad probably still claims you as a dependent, so your taxes should be pretty simple. He could probably help you with them too if you asked.

You have to file them before April 15th whether you're in school or not.

Make sure you file your taxes: Since you live with you dad, file a 1040EZ form. Just ask for that form and someone will know what it is. Get a tax form for your state. Follow the numbers on the forms. Don't think about it, thinking is when the trouble starts.

You don't make enough money to do anything fancy. Don't lie, cheat, or steal and all will be well.
