If you really put family first then you would be concerned about their long-term happiness and safety, as well as your own. Parents who do not acknowledge God are some of the most selfish, arrogant people on the planet. To think that you can create life and protect it and then spiritually neglect it is horribly irresponsible.

Putting your salvation or God before your family. Is important. That doesn't mean neglect your family or not spend time with them. It just means you are going to put God first, & know that by doing so He will protect & bless you & your family.
I don't really understand if this is a question or if you are just trying to justify doing something you might feel is not right!? Both my husband & I try to put God first in everything we do. God is perfect, so He will always lead you in the best possible way. Sometimes we may feel like things are not right, like if we get sick or someone dies, we may say "How can God allow that?" You may even be angry with God, but just because we can't see how everything happens for a reason, doesn't mean it doesn't.
You are not evil. We are all sinners! In fact it is great that you care so much about your family. But don't you want to go to heaven, & don't you want them there with you??? I know I cannot convince you, but if you are at all still curious... Check out these books:

"If any of you wants to be my follower, you must put aside your selfish ambition, shoulder your cross, and follow me. If you try to keep your life for yourself, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for me, you will find true life. And how do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul in the process? Is anything worth more than your soul?"
Matthew 16:24-26
Because the Teacher was wise, he taught the people everything he knew. He collected proverbs and classified them. Indeed, the Teacher taught the plain truth, and he did so in an interesting way.
A wise teacher's words spur students to action and emphasize important truths. The collected sayings of the wise are like guidance from a shepherd.
But, my child, be warned: There is no end of opinions ready to be expressed. Studying them can go on forever and become very exhausting!
Here is my final conclusion: Fear God and obey his commands, for this is the duty of every person. God will judge us for everything we do, including every secret thing, whether good or bad.

No it doesn't make you evil,it makes you human.
Me knowing I have a home in heaven prepared for me by my Lord is the most important thing to me,then family.
Maybe you have it altogether but I didn't and wouldn't be fit to have a family if not for the Lord in my life.Jesus loved me right where I was when I cried out to God and taught me love which neither of my parents did.I was selfish, and suicidal before I was saved.I actually say I was saved from myself,I know in reality that I was saved from the sin of the world but I also know I was my worst enemy.
Thank God for understanding because I have 5 kids grown now and we show love to each other,I am convinced history would have repeated itself in their life had I not cried out to God if I hadn't killed myself first.

I am a Christian, but it does seem that the idea of being "saved" is a selfish sort of thing. I think it is more important to God that you are a Loving person. After all, Jesus said " not everyone that says to me Lord, Lord will enter the Kingdom of heaven". God will look at each person to see who looks most like his Son. IMO, it will not matter if you have a passport or not. If you look like His Son, God will let you in.

Death is inevitable. The thief on the cross knew when his would occur, but we can not predict our own. After his death, the crucified criminal went to live in paradise with Jesus. Some of us will also live eternally in God's presence. But others will experience everlasting torment, forever separated from Him.
If we receive Jesus as our Savior, our penalty for sin is paid. We are adopted into God's family, and Heaven is our eternal home. If we reject Jesus, we remain alienated from the Lord and under condemnation for our sin. We are destined to experience eternal judgment. God won't accept any of man's excuses because there is no acceptable defense for unbelief. (Acts 4:12)
Become part of God's family today. Acknowledge your sinfulness, and express your faith in these words:
"God, I have sinned against You. (Romans 3:23) I've followed my own way and refused to give You the right to rule in my life. (Romans 3:10-12) I recognize I am separated from You and cannot rescue myself. I do believe that Jesus Christ is Your Son. I accept the truth of the Scriptures? that His death on the cross paid my sin-debt in full. (1 Corinthians 15:3-4) And I ask You to forgive me of my sins. (1 John 1:9) By faith, I receive You, Lord Jesus, as my personal Savior from this moment on."
If you just spoke those words to God, then, like the thief on the cross, you have received salvation? a gift of God's grace. The heavenly Father welcomes every person who comes to Him through His Son, regardless of background, age, or current situation. Through Jesus, the right to enter paradise is yours!

Using the "Lord's Prayer" as an example.
God's name being sanctified or made holy is the most important thing.
The night before Jesus' death, Jesus prayed, that his Father be glorified, and that he had made his Father's name known.
The most important thing is Jehovah's name, our salvation, our families salvation is a result of that sanctification.

Yes it is. For instance my mom is not a Christian, and I could change my beliefs to say that my mom will go to heaven, but I do not think it would be true. Even though I wish nothing less than for my mom to go to heaven, my beliefs are more important to me than making sure everyone goes to heaven no matter what.
