He probably figured out that they would be worth a lot of money. Now since money is evil, he figured the ones digging for hell would find the ones worth the most. Figured they'd appriciate it more I guess.

All of the natural resources I am familiar with are in the same place: Earth. As for others, I don't know.
needforsp, you are not suggesting that oil is the only natural resource on earth are you?

He didn't. When the dinosaurs died out 65 million years ago, their fossils were compressed by the Earth over the course of time and gradually broke down into oil, hence the term "fossil fuels."
