It all comes from the process of the egg developing. When the egg is formed it starts with the internal release of the yolk. Some times more than one yolk forms, and is released, before the shell develops and the egg can be layed. It is kind of the same way that some twins are devepoled. More than one egg is relased and in return more than on offspring is formed.
